2015 NASCAR: Irwin Tools Night Race Odds and Pick
Just three NASCAR races remain before the start of the Chase for the Sprint Cup, meaning several drivers have to buckle down and make a run at this weekend’s Irwin Tools Night Race.
The tight track known better as Thunder Valley figures to make for some crowded driving, meaning whatever drivers can make less mistakes and correctly time gambles will naturally find more success.
Bristol tends to bring out the best in NASCAR and the 2015 Irwin Tools Night Race certainly is no different. Kevin Harvick ends this year’s Irwin Tool Night Race with the best odds (6/1), but he’s tied with Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth at the top.
The point? No one really knows who is going to pull a win out at Bristol Motor Speedway. That being said, we should pay some mind to the odds and also take notice of who could be inching toward a big win.
Rounding out the top Irwin Tools Night Race odds are some familiar faces, as Brad Keselowski and Joey Logano both bring in 7/1 odds, while Carl Edwards, Jimmie Johnson and Kurt Busch round out the best odds with 10/1 odds, each.
Logano is a natural favorite due to winning the event in 2014 and also winning the last big race. The Busch brothers have been awesome all year long and both are clear favorites to give first place a go here. Kyle Busch carries the better odds, but Kurt is no pushover, either. The brothers both have won here five times, so they’re absolutely in play to do so again. Good luck picking between them, though.
Jeff Gordon’s final season as a full-time driver still doesn’t include a win, but he’s run well for most of the year. It still feels like he has a shot at winning a race or two during the stretch run and getting into the Chase. Die hard NASCAR fans will only hope that’s the case, while NASCAR betting folk may not see him as the worst sleeper pick out there. Gordon has won the event five times before and enters this year’s Irwin Tools Night Race with decent 18/1 odds.
Just like we’re pulling for Jeff Gordon to get his first win of the year and thrust himself into the Chase run, we all have to be thinking something similar about Danica Patrick. She hasn’t enjoyed a great 2015, but she still needs her first win in her career and this could be the track for her to get it done. She’s an understandable 100/1 long shot, but she’s a sneaky pick that could be fun to cheer for.
Ryan Newman might be the better 100/1 odds play, of course. He hasn’t won a race since 2013 but really hasn’t been bad at all since then. He should be inching closer to a big win and this weekend could get him it. Another nice 100/1 sleeper is Paul Menard. He has just one career win under his belt, but he’s run well for most of 2015 and could win on such a short, busy track.
The Pick: Jeff Gordon
It’s got to come eventually. Gordon’s swan song can’t go with no wins, right? He also just HAS to be in the Chase. You’d think. Beyond all of that, Gordon’s odds (18/1) are good enough for you to go into the 2015 Irwin Tools Night Race with some confidence, while he’d also get you a solid payout. Gordon has crushed it at this track in the past and it could be the perfect setting to get him his first win of 2015. If you’re looking for just a pure favorite with safe odds, I would roll with Kyle Busch. He’s been running even better and is one of the best drivers this year – plus he’s torn up this track many times before.
