6 Reasons to Watch Friday’s NFL Preseason Games
We will all be graced with a beautiful thing on Friday night: professional football. It’s true that preseason play is nothing like the real NFL regular season, but it still is pro football on our television sets.
Something about that run chills through your body.
It’s even better when you add story-lines and extra incentive to watch, so in case you were unsure about turning in for tonight’s NFL preseason slate, here’s an 8-pack to convince you:
NFL Betting, Baby
There are plenty of reasons to tune into tonight’s NFL preseason action. The most important, possibly, is the fact that you can bet on these games.
That’s right, who said preseason games don’t matter? They can certainly matter for you, provided you lay the right bet down on the right team.
The Money Lines and spreads are virtually all the same, which means you need to merely figure out which team you think will win. Granted, this type of betting is probably more luck than skill, as you’re focusing largely on players that normally don’t play.
Oh, except for the fact that this is the third week of preseason play, and this is the game where teams push their first team units onto the field for the longest amount of time. Yeah, get excited.
But if you want a fun NFL preseason betting tip, consider betting the underdog if the Money Line is favorable or try the underdog with +3.5 points. None of this should lead to a ton of betting (and definitely not hardcore betting) but it could make for a fun night with otherwise meaningless NFL games on TV.

DFS Preseason Games Exist
NFL preseason betting may not even be legal for you, so let’s try something fun tonight that is: daily fantasy football preseason games.
Yes, they exist and yes, they’re awesome.

You can mix and match your favorite roster over at DraftKings tonight, picking between star first team players like Aaron Rodgers and spare backups like Sammie Coates. One, both or neither could be amazing, but the more dialed in your are to injury reports and preseason planning, the better your chances to end Friday night with some cold, hard cash.
Jimmy Garoppolo is Starting
There is more to tonight than winning money. You also get to see more of New England Patriots quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, who continues to plan for his four-game stay as the team’s starter under center.

He’s slated to start tonight against the Carolina Panthers (on the road, mind you) and figures to see a good amount of time against a high caliber defense. This should give the Pats a great idea of how he and the first team offense will fare in his four starts to get 2016 going.
It’s also possible we could see other New England starters like Rob Gronkowski, but nothing is official yet. Tom Brady will also make an appearance despite a thumb issue. He’ll likely play later in the game.
Packers First Team Debuts
Green Bay has protected Aaron Rodgers and much of the first team offense to this point, but A-Rod will finally play in the team’s third preseason game tonight.

Rodgers could play up to the entire first half if Green Bay desires, but fans can’t be sure if Jordy Nelson will be back. Considering he was lost for the year with a torn ACL during preseason play last August, the team would probably be wise to keep him out until the regular season starts.
We’ll also see more of Eddie Lacy and any other Packer player that hasn’t suited up yet could be a candidate to get ample field time tonight against the San Francisco 49ers.
More RG3 to Pryor, Please
Robert Griffin III has surprisingly been very competent in two preseason games in 2016 and it will be very interesting to see if he can continue his growth in Cleveland tonight.
More specifically, he’s established a very entertaining connection with quarterback-turned-wide receiver Terrelle Pryor, and it will be fun to see if they can hook up for the third straight game.
The Browns’ playoff hopes hang in the balance here, and Cleveland fans could use extra encouragement that RG3 and Pryor could actually make their team a playoff contender. It’s doubtful, but at least they could be fun to watch.
Cousins to Reed
It will also be interesting to see if Big Ben and other star players turn out for week three, but we know for sure one killer connection will be on hand: Kirk Cousins to Jordan Reed.
These two crushed it in 2015 and with both active tonight, fans could get a taste of that again. The Redskins will likely keep their star offensive players on the field for about two quarters when they take on the Buffalo Bills at home tonight.
That does it for Friday night’s NFL preseason preview. If these six awesome things don’t get you to tune in tonight, we don’t know what will!
