Amaya Officially Moves on From Former CEO David Baazov
Online gambling entity Amaya Gaming is officially making a change at their CEO and Chairman positions. The Canadian company will be moving on frem David Baazov and appointing Rafi Ashkenazi as the new CEO permanently.

The big move comes after Baazov stepped down from the regular day to day activities as the company’s CEO and Chairman back in March. Baazov remains an 18.5% owner of the company and per reports may still have plans to fully purchase the company, but for now has been cut out of his previous executive roles.
Despite Baazov’s ownership status with Amaya, he is now fully expected to remain out of the company’s decision-making, with Ashkenazi taking over his former day to day responsibilities on a permanent basis.

The news marks the end of Baazov’s tenure at Amaya, a process set in motion thanks to the inside trading allegations thrown his way in March. Baazov and other parties have an estimated 23 charges currently against them and it is unknown what the future holds for Amaya’s former CEO.
Baazov didn’t appear to harbor any ill will to the company for the move:
“I am proud of my contributions in building Amaya into the successful company it is today, and continue to be supportive of its strategy and management.”
For Amaya’s part, they also thanks Baazov for his role in helping produce one of the top online gaming companies in the world:
“Amaya thanks Mr. Baazov for his contributions to Amaya since its inception and through its rapid growth, and looks forward to Mr. Ashkenazi’s continued success in leading the execution of Amaya’s strategy.”
Looking to the Future
Amaya is already trending back upward, with an increase in revenue and active users stemming from the end of June, per CalvinAyre.com.
Amaya Gaming is undoubtedly being left in responsible hands, as Ashkenazi takes over after working as a COO for Rational Group, which overseas the famous poker entities, PokerStars and Full Tilt.
Ashkenazi spent over two years in that role before taking over Baazov’s position on an interim basis in March. Going forward, Amaya has appointed him as their CEO and it looks as though he will stay there on a permanent basis.
The role of Chairman will go to Divyesh Gadhia, who had also been serving the same role on an interim basis.
With both roles Baazov occupied permanently replaced with accomplished and competent talent, Amaya Gaming can begin to truly pick up the pieces and move forward, past this recent scandal.
