Chicago Bulls and Kevin Love Trade Rumors?
The Kevin Love trade rumors won’t stop. That’s understandable, though, as he’s still a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves. Considering he’s entering a contract year and has no intention of remaining in Minnesota, those trade rumors are sure to get even more frequent and possibly much crazier as the weeks go on.
While the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers ponder whether or not to include the likes of Klay Thompson and Andrew Wiggins in their respective potential deals, another team has joined the mix. Per reports, the Chicago Bulls are now throwing their hat into the ring and could be serious contenders to land Love via a trade with the Timberwolves.
Love has been fairly quiet about where he’d “prefer” to go, while some have speculated he has the Boston Celtics, any team in California and the Cleveland Cavaliers near the top of his list. However, one of the biggest criteria for Love signing off on a trade seems to be, above all else, going somewhere he could win.
Chicago certainly has to qualify, as they’ll finally get a healthy Derrick Rose back to man the point, and also have a formidable lineup down low with Pau Gasol signing on recently to team up with center Joakim Noah. Obviously, other members of the current roster in Chicago would probably have to be sacrificed in order to pull Love in, but the remaining pieces (including rookie sharpshooter Doug McDermott) could be enough to convince Love that playing in Chicago gives him a terrific chance to win consistently.
Of course, there is still the discussion of whether or not Love would agree to sign a long-term deal in Chicago. At least on the Bulls’ side of things, landing Love would be a huge get, as it’d give them a second true NBA superstar and the elite scoring presence they arguably haven’t had in several seasons – even when you factor in Rose. The reality is, Rose’s health is a concern, and as good as he is at scoring, he still isn’t a great shooter.
The Bulls have taken measures to help Rose already, as Gasol helps their mid-range game and McDermott should help improve their outside shooting, as well.
It’s the early stages of the Kevin Love to Chicago rumors, but this one could have wheels, just like the Cleveland and Golden State rumors. The kicker could be what the Bulls have to give up to make the deal happen. Draft picks are a lock to be included, while young, budding stars like Jimmy Butler and Taj Gibson are already rumored to be potentially involved. Stay tuned.
