Daniel Negreanu Named Poker Player Of The Decade
The independent poker ranking service Global Poker Index has announced that Daniel Negreanu is their “Poker Player of the Decade”. Negreanu has earned this accolade for his consistent performances in poker tournaments and cash games throughout the last ten years, with 2013 being a particularly successful year.
Indeed, Negreanu was named “Player of the Year” in 2013 by several organizations – including Bluff Magazine and Card Player. He was also named World Series of Poker Player of the Year, making him the first player to win this award twice having won it previously back in 2004.
Canadian Negreanu is one of the best known, and most popular, poker players in the world. An accomplished tournament player he has won six World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets, made28 WSOP final tables and had 53 money finishes in WSOP tournaments. He also has two World Poker Tour titles and a number of other tournament successes. His lifetime live poker tournament winnings stand at nearly $20 million.
Negreanu is also skilled in cash games and has regularly played in the “Big Game” in Bobby’s Room at the Bellagio casino in Las Vegas. He has also made several appearances in the television show High Stakes Poker which features many of the top professional poker players playing cash games. As a member of Team PokerStars he can often be found playing at the online tables too.
Following the announcement of this latest award, Negreanu said “I’m very honored by this award. I’ve worked hard on my game throughout the decade, so that I could find ways to consistently win year in, year out against tougher and tougher competition each year.”
