Deadline for Atlantic City Casinos
The Atlantic City casinos hoping to be granted online gambling permits by the state of New Jersey have been told they have until the end of the month to finalize their plans and choose their online partners. June 30th is the deadline if they want a chance of launching online gambling operations at some point in the future.
Gambling in New Jersey is regulated by the Gaming Enforcement Division, and they have set this deadline so that they sufficient time to conduct their investigations into the suitability of potential licensees. The regulators expect licensed internet based gambling to begin later this year, and they are committed to ensuring that only organizations that meet very high standards will be approved.
Some of the 12 casinos in Atlantic City appear to still be reviewing their options, although the Borgata Hotel & Spa has partnered with online gambling giant Bwin.party. They have announced their intention to be ready to begin their operations in November 2013. There are four casinos in Atlantic City owned by Ceasers Entertainment Corp, and it is believed they are likely to be partnering with 888 Holdings.
There have been no formal announcements from the other casinos at this time, so it is not known who they plan to partner with or even if they intend to apply for the relevant license. The Gaming Enforcement Division has set another deadline, the 29th July, for applications for online gambling licenses to be completed and submitted.
New Jersey is one of a number of states in America that have taken steps to legalize online gambling. Initially the state plans only to allow online gambling from within its borders, but have suggested that they may explore multistate agreements at a later time.
