Final Table of World Series of Poker Starts Today
Earlier this year nine poker players made their way through a field of over six thousand in the World Series of Poker Main Event. Today, these nine players will be competing against each other as the final table starts at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino. There are millions of dollars at stake as well as the glory of becoming a WSOP champion.
The winning player will receive over $8 million in prize money and each of the first seven placed finishers will all get over one million. Even the ninth placed finisher is guaranteed over $700,000. You can be sure that all nine players will have their eyes set firmly on first prize though.
Eight out of the nine finalists are professional poker players with just one amateur, Jay Farber, remaining. There are five different nations represented, with five Americans and one player from each of Israel, Holland, France and Canada. JC Tran, the current chip leader, is the favorite to win the tournament, and add to the two WSOP bracelets he has already won.
The schedule for today is to play until just three players remain before breaking for the night. Play will then resume tomorrow with the plan being to play until the winner is decided.
Below is a list of the nine players taking part in the final table today, along with their respective chip counts.
