Full Tilt Poker to Launch New TV Show
Online poker site Full Tilt has announced that it is creating a new show for television, in which qualifiers will have the opportunity to play against professional poker player Gus Hansen. The show is targeted at The Commonwealth of Independent States and the Baltics and is aimed at attracting new players from these regions. It is to be called Full Tilt Poker Pro Battle.
Players will be able to qualify to appear in the TV show by playing in weekly online tournaments at Full Tilt Poker, starting on Sunday October 13. These tournaments will have a buy in of $100 + $9 and at least two places on the show will be guaranteed in each one. A final qualifier will take place on November 16, with at least one more place guaranteed. Players can also try to earn a place on the show through a series of freerolls.
The show itself will be filmed in Kiev, and will feature six deepstack short-handed live tournaments where the online qualifiers will compete against professional players. The pros will include members of Team PokerStars such as Alexander Kravchenko, Ivan Demidov and Maksin Lykon. The winner of each of these six tournaments will win $12,000 and a place in the Full Tilt Poker Pro Battle final.
The winner of the Pro Battle final will win $35,000 and will then go on to face Gus Hansen in a series of heads-up tournaments with $100,000 on the line. Filming for the show will take place during November and will be broadcast in Russia and Ukraine in early 2014.
