International Poker Network Set To Close
One of the more established online poker networks – the International Poker Network – looks set to close sometime this year. The International Poker Network (IPN) has provided poker games for over ten years, ever since it was set up by Boss Media. It is now owned by GTech and they have decided that it is time to shut the network down.
It is understood that the main reason behind this decision is the fact that GTech is concentrating on regulated markets and the IPN as it is operated now does not fit in with their strategy. The poker software will still be used however, in certain regulated markets where players are ring-fenced to a specific region.
Many of the leading online poker rooms have been on the IPN at some point and there are still several that currently are. The network has not really kept up with the competition though, and is software is somewhat outdated now. Many of the rooms that do still use the IPN actually run dual networks, providing multiple options for their players.
Players currently playing at an IPN room should not be too worried about the upcoming closure. GTech is a very reputable organization and it is reasonable to expect that everything will be handled professionally and with minimum disruption to players.
