MLB Trade Rumors: 4 Most Likely Destinations For Chris Sale
The Chris Sale trade rumors are as hot as ever with the 2016 MLB trade deadline arriving on August 1st. A recent locker room tirade involving the destruction of Chicago White Shox uniforms could put the Sales rumors toward a boiling point.
Sale on the Move?
While nothing is imminent, the White Sox are at least listening to trade offers with the clock ticking on the deadline, and whispers suggest a deal could go down.
Sale has regressed mildly during his 2016 campaign with his strikeout numbers freezing up at times, but he’s otherwise been as stable as ever while posting a respectable 3.17 ERA en route to a strong 14-4 record.
White Sox’ Struggles
Chicago hasn’t seen the success translate enough, however, as they’ve struggled to keep their heads above water at 50-52 in the AL Central.
Does that mean they’re for sure cutting bait on their 25-year old ace? No, but thanks to Sale’s recent outburst, they can demand a king’s ransom. If the right team offers the right deal, they just might pull the trigger.
What that deal could end up being is anyone’s guess. We have a pretty good idea of which teams would have a shot at landing Sale in a trade however:
Rangers Being Aggressive
Texas is the latest team to dive head first into the Chris Sale sweepstakes, as recent reports suggest they’ve been “aggressive” in their pursuit for the star pitcher.

The Rangers certainly make good sense, as they’re already a top playoff contender and sit atop the AL West. They have World Series on the brain, with Yu Darvish and Cole Hamels leading a solid defense and an even better offense in tow.
The nice thing is Texas has expendable talent, and word is the White Sox could be open to a deal if the Rangers include more than one appealing talents. Joey Gallo and Nomar Mazara are just two names that pop up.
The Red Sox could also be in play, as they’re still in contention for the AL East crown and could use another elite arm to push their defense over the top.

Everyone knows Boston can hit with the best of them, and their elite depth is one big reason why. It could cost them some young talent to pry Sale out of Chicago, while a reliable hitter could also be part of any prospective deal.
Sale in Stripes
There are a ton of teams that could and should be interested in trading for Chris Sale, but not all of them are title contenders. The Yanks are one of the many that could show interest, as they switch their focus to 2017.

New York has a lot of expiring deals on their roster and could also move someone in their stacked bullpen to help bring in a true ace – something they arguably still don’t have.
Clayton & Chris
This one is probably more fun that likely to happen, as a pairing of Clayton Kershaw and Chris Sale could be absolutely lethal for the Dodgers.
Los Angeles would have to give up some prospects and maybe even a healthy bat like Yasiel Puig to even start negotiations, but on paper they’d have the most stacked starting pitching duo in all of Major League Baseball.
