Online Poker Scandal Documentary Ready to Air
A documentary detailing the cheating scandal that took place at online poker site UltimateBet is ready to air, according to its producers. Doublehead Pictures, the company behind the documentary, have announced that it will be released on October 22nd. It is called UltimateBeat, and has already been the subject of much publicity.
The UltimateBet cheating scandal rocked the online poker playing community when it was discovered in 2008. Although there have been a number of investigations take place, the community still feels that no-one has been properly held to account for the millions of dollars that were cheated out of players. The site did make a number of repayments, but it is unclear how much remains unpaid and the site itself is now defunct.
The director of UltimateBeat is Scott Bell, and he has spent several years carrying out the necessary research. He has been assisted by a group of poker players that were involved in uncovering the scandal originally. Players still angry about what happened, and keen for the whole truth to be public knowledge, have assisted Bell with the required funding for the project. The rest of the money was raised by crowd funding via KickStarter.com.
The documentary film is going to be released in Video on Demand format, details of which will be made available on the release date. It is already being promoted across social channels and is generating plenty of interest within the poker community.
