Pennsylvania Considering Possibility of Online Gambling
Pennsylvania is the latest state in America that is considering introducing regulation for online gambling. Budget discussions are coming up and, with the state facing a significant shortfall in revenues, the potential revenues from legalized online gambling could be seen as an attractive proposition.
With three states currently allowing online gambling – Nevada, Delaware and New Jersey – a number of others have been looking to follow suit. The idea has been discussed in Pennsylvania before but it now appears that things are gaining momentum. A resolution for a legislature study into legalizing online gambling has already been passed, with the results due in May.
It is expected that a big part of any debate surrounding the possibility will be where any proceeds go. That could quite possibly cause just as much controversy as the core issue of legalizing online gambling will.
There is likely to be some stern opposition to the prospect of legalized online gambling but there is sure to be plenty of support too. In particular, a proposal for the Pennsylvania Lottery to start offering keno games is expected to meet with approval. It remains to be seen whether or not the state takes things further than that though.
