Week 1 NFL Injury Updates: Andre Ellington to Be Game Time Decision
Everything is fluid in the NFL, which naturally means it’s fluid for anyone who is a fan of pro football, as well. Whether you’re tracking your favorite team or finalizing your weekly roster in fantasy football, who is or isn’t playing each week might impact how you enjoy the game.
Keeping tabs on the latest injury buzz is key to doing well in fantasy football and also just staying on top of your knowledge of the game. With that in mind, there have been several updates to some key names hat were on the injury report this week.
Let’s break them all down as we all gear up for Sunday’s games:
Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots (Calf)
Brady has a very minor calf injury that is not expected to keep him from making the week one start.
Cam Newton, QB, Carolina Panthers (Ribs)
Cam has small breaks in some of his ribs and is having difficulty throwing comfortably, but he did throw this week and reportedly “looked pretty good”. He’s likely to start in week one, but isn’t quite a lock just yet.
Andre Ellington, RB, Arizona Cardinals (Foot)
The explosive Ellington hurt his foot in practice this week and reports have been all over the place. While some people think he could miss 4-6 weeks, Arizona is still calling him a game time decision. Stay tuned.
Kenny Stills, WR, New Orleans Saints (Quad)
The speedy Stills is still dealing with pain in his quad and won’t suit up against the Falcons. Rookie receiver Brandin Cooks is in line for a big role in his pro debut.
Cecil Shorts III, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars (Hamstring)
Shorts is dealing with a tight hamstring and has already been ruled OUT for this game, so the Jags will turn to rookies Marqise Lee and Allen Robinson in the passing game.
Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots (Knee)
The Gronk makes his return from a torn ACL this week, although he may be playing limited snaps.
Garrett Graham, TE, Houston Texans (Back)
Dealing with a sore back, Graham is listed as a “true game time decision” for week one. If he can’t make the start, rookie tight end C.J. Fiedorowicz would start in his place.
