Week 3 NFL Injury Report: Updating DeSean Jackson and More
Week three of the 2014 NFL season already started on Thursday night with the Falcons beating down the Buccaneers, but there’s still a ton of football to be played. Before we can even get to that, though, we have to know who will be taking the field.
Let’s quickly run through all the big names that are banged up and may or may not be able to play this week:
DeSean Jackson, WR, Washington Redskins
Jackson is banged up with a shoulder issue but is “expected to be available” for the Redskins this week.
Bernard Pierce, RB, Baltimore Ravens
Pierce is a little nicked up but looks like a go this week. He’ll continue to share the rock with Justin Forsett.
Sammy Watkins, WR, Buffalo Bills
Watkins has some bruised ribs but went off last week and doesn’t seem in danger of missing week three’s action.
DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina Panthers
D-Will missed week two with a thigh injury and is questionable to play in week three. He might want to sit out this week’s home contest with the Steelers.
Kelvin Benjamin, WR, Carolina Panthers
Benjamin has a sore knee but practice in full on Friday and figures to be active this week.
Alshon Jeffery and Brandon Marshall, WR, Chicago Bears
Both Jeffery and Marshall are still not 100% for the second week in a row, but both are fully expected to take the field against the Jets on Monday Night Football.
A.J. Green, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Green is dealing with a toe injury that forced him out of his week two game, but he’s listed as probable to face the Titans in week three.
Ben Tate, RB, Cleveland Browns
Tate missed last week with a sore knee and is very likely to sit out at least one more week.
Tony Romo, QB, Dallas Cowboys
Romo continues to deal with a sore back but has been active the first two weeks and should be good to go this week again, as well.
Dez Bryant, WR, Dallas Cowboys
Bryant was limited all week thanks to a shoulder issue, but should face the Rams in week three.
Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans
Foster is having issues with his hamstring and is being regarded as a “longshot” to suit up this week.
Hakeem Nicks and T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts
Nicks and Hilton are both dealing with minor injuries, but both are expected to take on the Jags this week.
Jamaal Charles, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Charles has been doing better after suffering a bruised foot last week, but should be held out this week.
Eric Decker, WR, New York Jets
Decker has mild hamstring strain and is very much in question to play this week. He has an extra day to get ready, though, so he still could play.
Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Oakland Raiders
MJD is still recovering from hand surgery of only a week ago, so the Raiders don’t expect to have him this week.
Antonio Gates, TE, San Diego Chargers
Gates has a sore hamstring but is ready to go after scoring three touchdowns in week three.
Keenan Allen, WR, San Diego Chargers
Allen is dealing with a groin issue but isn’t expected to sit out this week. He’s probably to play.
Vernon Davis, TE, San Francisco 49ers
Davis suffered an ankle injury last week and is questionable for week three. There’s a decent chance he sits out.
