40 years ago, Michael Myers became a household name causing fear in the hearts of anyone who saw the first Halloween movie. Over the next decade, the Halloween franchise released several more films:
- Halloween 2 in 1981
- Halloween 3: Season of the Witch in 1982
- Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers in 1988
- Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers in 1989
Following Halloween 5, there were five more films released in the 1990’s and the 2000’s including Halloween H20, which was the 20th year anniversary and Rob Zombie’s remakes of Halloween and Halloween 2.
For many of the diehard Halloween fans, any movie that didn’t have Jamie Lee Curtis in it, doesn’t count. Well, Curtis is back to reprise her role as Laurie Strode in this year’s Halloween movie that comes out in October. Longtime Halloween fans are excited to see Curtis’ return to the series that has endeared her to horror film fans around the world.
Even more exciting is that John Carpenter returned to direct this film. He also stated that this will be a direct sequel to the original 1978 film and that fans can basically ignore all of the movies made since then. Hey John, most of us have already done this especially after the film Halloween 3 which didn’t even have Michael Myers in it.
With the new Halloween movie coming out in roughly two months, MyBookie has listed the following prop bets for the highly anticipated film. Keep in mind, there’s a cutoff date of August 20th to make these bets:
How Many Total Kills Will Michael Myers Have in Halloween 2018?
- Over 6.5 (-135)
- Under 6.5 (+115)
For a kill to count toward this wager, Myers has to kill the person(s) on screen. I’m going with the Over on this one. I believe Myers will kill close to double digits in this film. In 1978, Myers only killed 5 people on screen. However, you must keep in mind that this was a different era. Nowadays, many moviegoers and horror film fans love more gore, more killing and more fear. With that in mind, I believe Carpenter is going to unleash Myers in this one with more killing on screen than the Over/Under of 6.5 total kills.
In Halloween 2, Myers killed 9 people on screen. In Halloween 4, the number of on-screen kills went up to 10 and then went up to 11 in Halloween 5. The last Halloween movie that came out in 2009, saw the number of on-screen kills almost hit 20 in the Unrated Cut. Check out the following breakdown of Myers’ on-screen kills per each film:
- Halloween: 5 kills
- Halloween 2: 9 kills
- Halloween 4: 10 kills
- Halloween 5: 11 kills
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers: 11 kills
- Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later: 4 kills
- Halloween: Resurrection: 9 kills
- Halloween (2007): 21 kills
- Halloween II (2009): 19 kills
How Many People Will Michael Myers Kill With a Knife?
- Over 3.5 (-120)
- Under 3.5 (+100)
Just like with the previous bet, for kills to count toward this wager, they will have to be done on-screen. With that said, I believe this one will also be the Over, but it will be a close one. The following is a look at the previous films to see how many people Michael Myers killed on-screen with a knife according to Halloween Series Wiki:
- Halloween: 3 kills with a knife
- Halloween 2: 1 kill with a knife
- Halloween 4: 2 kills with a knife
- Halloween 5: 2-3 kills with a knife
- Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers: 4 kills with a knife
- Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later: 2 kills with a knife
- Halloween: Resurrection: 5 kills with a knife
- Halloween (2007): 8 kills with a knife
- Halloween II (2009): 6 kills with a knife
Rob Zombie sure loved to kill people in his Halloween films. However, prior to that, the numbers of on-screen kills were dipping. Yet, the number of on-screen kills with a knife seemed to be rising after Halloween 2, especially in Zombie’s two films.
Carpenter will likely keep the killing to far less than what Zombie did, but I do expect it to be more than 7 on-screen kills. With that said, I believe we’ll get at least 4 on-screen kills with a knife. It might not be much more than the Total of 3.5, but I think that longtime horror film fans are clamoring for Myers to use his signature weapon on-screen when killing his victims.
Will Michael Myers Kill Lauri Strode in the Movie?
- Yes (-160)
- No (+130)
Laurie Strode is one of the main characters in the Halloween film, novel and comic franchises. Strode was made famous by Jamie Lee Curtis in the first movie and reprised by her in following films. Curtis has appeared in a total of 7 out of the 11 films, which includes this one.
Strode’s death has been faked before. But, will they actually kill her off? As a longtime fan, I wish they actually would. Her death would give more steam to this franchise moving forward. However, I can see Carpenter keeping her alive, but making us think she was dead so that we invest into another film.
In the end, I believe the safe money is on No. Curtis and her character Laurie Strode will survive for another film.
Halloween 2018 Closing Credits and Betting Recap
Halloween not only introduced us to Michael Myers, but it also introduced us to one of the greatest movie theme songs of all-time. Just hearing that song can send chills up your spine. With Carpenter and Curtis back, I expect this film to be true to the 1978 original and to provide us with a solid storyline while also satiating our appetite for horror.
I believe Carpenter will have a balance of suspense and gore, while Curtis gives us her best performance since the first film. I like the Overs in both bets and I believe Strode survives another Myers attack to live on for another film. However, one has to wonder how much longer Myers can go on considering he’s now a middle-aged man.
Halloween 2018 debuts in theaters on October 19th, 2018. All prop bets have a cutoff date of August 20th, 2018.
