Olympic Boxing Betting Has Never Been More Popular Than It Is Right Now
The boxing events are heating up and true gold medal contenders are emerging. Now is the perfect time to take a close look at a few of the boxers expected to win Olympic gold medals this summer.
It’s always difficult to predict amateur boxing. That is particularly true when considering some of the judging issues in Olympic boxing in the past. I still feel strongly that the fighters listed below have a great shot at earning gold on the biggest stage.
The Top 3 Boxers Expected to Win Olympic Gold Medals
The sport of boxing has never been more popular than it is right now. There are a huge number of popular champions across the professional game. Fans have also been looking forward to seeing the best amateur boxers compete at the Olympic Games.
A growing number of fans are now growing interested in betting on Olympic boxing. There are plenty of exciting fighters still competing in Tokyo. Below are three of the fighters that I believe are capable of winning the championship in their respective weight divisions.
#1: Muslim Gadzhimagomedov -275
The current favorite among every men’s Olympic boxer that still remains in the Games is Russia’s Muslim Gadzhimagomedov. The 24-year-old looked incredible in his win over Algeria’s Abdelhafid Benchabla. That performance was enough for him to earn a spot on this list of the boxers expected to win Olympic gold medals in Tokyo.
There aren’t many heavyweights with the credentials that Muslim boasts. That includes a gold medal at the 2019 World Championships. He uses that high-level experience to overwhelm his opponents in the ring.
It seems likely that Gadzhimagomedov’s most difficult test will come against Cuba’s Julio Cesar La Cruz. If it happens, this should be an epic fight between two elite heavyweights. La Cruz is currently listed as the +285 underdog to earn the gold medal this summer.
#2: Keyshawn Davis +350
Some may disagree with listing Keyshawn Davis here. He competes in the lightweight division, the same weight class that the dominant Cuban, Andy Cruz, currently fights in. I am high on Keyshawn’s skills, though, and feel he has what it takes to win gold.
Davis looked fantastic by defeating Enrico Lacruz 5-0 over the weekend. He is another very experienced fighter, including in the professional game where he is 3-0. It won’t be easy, but Keyshawn can use his speed and explosivity to earn the championship at lightweight.
Much of this will depend on how Andy Cruz looks against the always-tough Luke McCormack on July 31. He is expected to earn the victory in this fight. This would likely make him one of the boxers expected to win Olympic gold in the minds of many fans and analysts. I like the slight underdog here in Keyshawn Davis.
#3: Bakhodir Jalolov -225
The super-heavyweight division in Olympic boxing is very competitive this year. One man is already seen by many as the future gold medal winner. That is Bakhodir Jalolov, the 2019 World Championships winner in Yekaterinburg.
Jalolov Has Yet to Compete in Tokyo
His first bout will take place on July 29 against Mahammed Abdullayev. Most expect Bakhodir to earn an easy victory against his opponent, who is listed as the +2800 underdog to win gold.
Super-heavyweights can win fights in an instant. Anything can happen here, I agree with those that view Bakhodir Jalolov as one of the boxers expected to win Olympic Gold this summer. He is too fast and technical for the rest of the fighters in the division.
The Summer Olympic games are getting more exciting as the events continue. There are a still a huge number of incredible boxing matches taking place over the next few weeks. It’s a fun time for boxing fans around the world.
Don’t forget to head over to 2021 Tokyo Olympics betting sites to make your wagers on all these events! Feel free to check out the odds for the other Olympic sporting events, too. There is still plenty of time left to cash out on these events.
