Betting For The Cycle – Syndergaard vs Kershaw, Braves vs Nationals, Twins vs Indians, Torres vs Guerrero Jr.
Welcome to the latest edition of Betting For The Cycle. The 2019 Major League Baseball season is coming down to the wire, which means pennant chases are heating up. The upcoming weekend features a couple of interesting potential playoff previews, as well as series that will have massive postseason implications. Drew Goldfarb, Taylor Smith, and Jim Beviglia are here to break it all down from a betting perspective.
First up, the guys talk daily fantasy sports. Gleyber Torres and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. are two of the premier young sluggers in the game these days, and the two will share the field this weekend when Torres’ Yankees visit Guerrero’s Blue Jays for a three-game series north of the border. Which player will be the better daily fantasy option when the AL East rivals square off over the weekend in Toronto?
Next, we have yet another series between the Minnesota Twins and Cleveland Indians, who continue to jockey for supremacy in the AL Central. The Twins will enter the weekend with the lead in the division, but the Indians still have enough time to make things interesting as the season winds down. Will the Twins win the weekend series in Minneapolis to effectively put the division title on ice? Or will the Tribe pick up a series win on the road to make things interesting down the stretch?
We have another interesting divisional matchup set to take place in the nation’s capital this weekend. The Washington Nationals, who are firmly entrenched atop the NL Wild Card race, will welcome the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves to town for a three-gamer. Will Max Scherzer, Anthony Rendon, and company put a little heat on the division leaders? Or will the Braves show why they’re the best out East with a statement series win away from home?
Finally, we have another daily fantasy matchup to target. This time, we talk pitching. Clayton Kershaw will lead the NL West champion Dodgers into Queens to take on Noah Syndergaard and the Mets this weekend. Both pitchers have gotten stronger as the season has progressed, but which will prove to be the superior DFS option when the two square off at Citi Field on Friday night?
