Betting For The Cycle – Dallas Keuchel’s 2019 Debut, Yankees vs Astros, Cardinals vs Angels Betting Picks

This week on “Betting For The Cycle,” I’m joined by Taylor Smith and Jim Beviglia for another week of baseball betting picks. With a pair of College World Series picks still pending from last week (Jim has Vanderbilt advancing to the College World Series Finals, while I have Mississippi State doing the same), we’ve got four more picks to discuss and give you.

In our first pick of the week, we’re taking a closer look at Dallas Keuchel’s 2019 debut! The former Houston Astros star and Cy Young Award winner is set to make his Atlanta Braves debut on Friday against Washington. Not an easy matchup to open up a season, but he’s pitched well on assignment in the Minors. He’s up against Cleveland’s Trevor Bauer. Bauer has been excellent in 2019 and has a favorable matchup as well. Who’s taking the safe pick, and who wants the wild card?

Next up, a series pick. In an intriguing Interleague series, the St. Louis Cardinals host the Los Angeles Angels beginning on Friday. The Angels score a lot of runs, but allow a lot as well. The teams have similar run differentials, similar records, and similar projections for the rest of the season. However, with the game being played under National League rules, one of the Angels’ biggest offensive weapons is likely to remain on the bench for the entire series (aside from pinch-hitting duties). Los Angeles is significantly better when Shohei Ohtani is in the lineup, but the lack of a designated hitter slot in the Angels’ lineup this weekend should keep him benched.

Batting third, it’s another daily fantasy selection. For Thursday’s games, we’re comparing Jake Odorizzi of the Twins to Charlie Morton of the Rays. The statistical similarities between these two pitchers run deep: great win-loss records, excellent K/9 ratios, and the duo have WHIPs and ERAs within a quarter of a point of one another.

And finally, a game pick. The New York Yankees and Houston Astros will play a four-game series this weekend in the Bronx. On Saturday, the scheduled pitching matchup features Masahiro Tanaka going for the Bronx Bombers and Wade Miley taking the bump for the ‘Stros. It’s a matchup of two of the teams favored by many to win (or at least challenge for) the American League pennant, and it’s possible Aaron Judge returns to the Yankee lineup by the weekend.

Check out all of our experts’ picks in the video at the top of the page, and check back next week for another edition of “Betting For The Cycle!”
