By Sunday night, the NFL concluded Wild Card weekend with a wild finish as the Philadelphia Eagles upset the Chicago Bears due to a missed last minute field goal. With that win, the Eagles will head to New Orleans to take on the Saints.
Philly opened as the biggest underdog of the weekend. All three of the other Divisional Round games have opening lines at a touchdown or less.
Let’s take a look at these NFL betting odds for the Divisional Round of the playoffs to see if there’s any early betting value:
Indianapolis Colts at Kansas City Chiefs
On Saturday, the Indianapolis Colts went down to Houston and upset the #3 Houston Texans to advance to the Divisional Round of the playoffs. The Colts will now travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium, which is one of the toughest places to play.
The Chiefs are the #1 seed in the AFC and have home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. Due to their seeding, KC had a 1st round bye and rested up some of their injured players.
According to BetOnline, the Chiefs opened up as a 5.5 point favorite at home over the Colts. The Over/Under is 56.5 total points and the moneylines are Colts +215 and the Chiefs -255.
At first glance, I really like the Over/Under for this game. I believe these two teams can combine for over 60 total points. The moneylines don’t offer any value, but the spread has potential in favor of the Colts.
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Rams
On Saturday night, the Cowboys earned a hard-fought victory over the Seattle Seahawks and most likely saved Jason Garett’s job. With the win, the Cowboys advanced to the next round of the playoffs and will travel to Southern California to take on the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams finished as the #2 seed in the NFC and had a bye during the Wild Card weekend. Los Angeles is hoping to advance further than last year’s one and done in the playoffs.
The Cowboys come in as a 7-point underdog, which is pretty high in my opinion. The Cowboys have a +275 moneyline and the Rams are listed at -330. The Over/Under is set at 49 total points.
Upon first look, Dallas getting 7 points is very appealing. They have a great defense and the NFL’s leading rusher. This could be one of the top NFL bets for the weekend.
Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots
The Los Angeles Chargers went into Baltimore on Sunday and defeated the Ravens. However, they nearly allowed the Ravens to come back at the end of the game and win.
Prior to the last 10 minutes of the game, the Chargers looked like one of the best teams in the NFL. The Patriots were on a bye week as they are the #2 seed in the playoffs.
The Chargers open as a 4.5 point favorite on the road in Foxboro, Massachusetts. The Over/Under is 47 total points, which seems rather low. The Patriots are a -215 favorite and the Chargers are a +185 underdog.
At first glance, I believe there’s some value in the O/U of 47 points. These two teams can score with the best of them.
Philadelphia Eagles at New Orleans Saints
As mentioned above, the Eagles are the biggest underdog of the weekend at +9 points. Due to their win over the Bears, Philadelphia will head down to Louisiana to take on the #1 seed New Orleans Saints, who had a bye this weekend.
Philly’s worst loss of the year came at the hands of the Saints and they would definitely love to get some revenge.
The Over/Under of this game is 51 total points. The Eagles are a +325 underdog and the Saints are a -385 favorite.
With the way the Eagles have been playing over the last month, I believe a 9 point spread is actually great for the Eagles. I don’t see them losing by double-digit points.
Is There Any Early Betting Value?
As you can see above, I believe there’s some betting value with each game’s early betting odds. I like the Over/Under of 56.5 points in the Colts vs Chiefs game. I really like the Cowboys getting 7 points and the Eagles getting 9 points in their games. And, I like the Chargers vs Patriots O/U of 47 points.
The good thing about opening betting lines is that you may find some solid betting value before the lines shift accordingly. After looking over the 4 Divisional Round games, of the value picks listed above, I believe the Cowboys getting 7 points offers the best early betting value.
