The Payoff Episode 2: AEW Double Or Nothing Betting Predictions and WWE Money In The Bank Fallout
All Elite Wrestling finally puts on its first wrestling event on Memorial Day weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada! After months of build, AEW launches with “Double or Nothing,” featuring a number of intriguing matches from a fan’s perspective and a potential betting perspective.
While no betting odds were available at the time of recording, Drew Goldfarb and Rick Rockwell break down their betting picks for three of the biggest matches of this weekend’s Pay Per View event.
First, AEW co-founder Cody Rhodes battles brother Dustin Rhodes. It’s a match that many WWE fans dreamed about during the final stages of Cody’s tenure with the company, when Dustin was wrestling as Goldust and Cody spent time competing as Stardust. Drew and Rick agree that betting on younger brother, Cody, is the smart play here, as intriguing as Dustin’s role in AEW may be to see unfold.
Kenny Omega is also expected to be a key player in All Elite Wrestling’s future. For his first opponent, a revisit of a highly regarded feud from Omega’s time in Japan, as he challenges Chris Jericho. With the potential for a future shot at the to-be-unveiled AEW World Championship on the line, Rick and Drew disagree on which way this match will unfold. Drew sees Omega as the long-term choice and, with AEW claiming to emphasize wins and losses, it makes sense to start his All Elite career with a win. Rick sees a Jericho win as a play for more mainstream appeal and attention.
Finally, in a match for the AAA World Tag Team Championships, The Young Bucks, Matt and Nick Jackson, defend against AAA’s own Lucha Brothers, Pentagon Jr. and Rey Fenix. After a discussion ahead of recording, Drew convinced Rick to pick The Lucha Bros. with him, reasoning that giving Pentagon and Fenix their promotion’s championships opens the door for The Young Bucks to challenge for AEW’s titles as well as potential Champion vs Champion bouts in the future.
