This week in combat sports, there are FIVE major events to give your attention and your action. Bellator 220 may be the most stacked card of the weekend. Rory MacDonald defends his Welterweight Championship against Jon Fitch in the “Welterweight Grand Prix” in the main event, and Ilima-Lei MacFarlane puts her Flyweight Championship on the line against Veta Arteaga.
In the world of boxing, there are three total events this weekend, all of which feature championship matches in the main events. On Friday night, DAZN will stream a fight card from Matchroom Boxing Promotions that’s headlined by a bout for the WBC Super Flyweight Championship, as champion Srisaket Sor Rungvisai faces off with Juan Francisco Estrada. Just before that, a co-main event fight between Daniel Roman and T.J. Doheny to unify the WBA and IBF Super Bantamweight Championships.
Saturday, the 27th, the World Boxing Super Series holds two semifinal fights as the co-main events of their card in Louisiana. In the co-main Event, WBA Champion Nonito Donaire squares off with WBO Champion Zolani Tete to unify their Bantamweight Championships. Then in the main event, the WBA Super Lightweight Championship is on the line, as champion Kiryl Relikh defends against WBC Diamond Champion Regis Prograis.
Also on Saturday night, Showtime Boxing, Mayweather Promotions and TGB Promotions are putting together a card in Las Vegas, headlined by former world champions Robert Easter Jr. and Rances Barthelemy squaring off for the vacant WBA Lightweight Championship.
UFC is on ESPN3 this weekend, as they’ll hold their fight card on Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida. UFC Fight Night 150 is headlined by Jacare vs Hermansson, and Greg Hardy takes on Dmitrii Smoliakov in the co-main event.
