This Week in Combat Sports… after a week of no octagon action, UFC returns on Saturday in Stockholm, Sweden! The latest UFC Fight Night card features Swedish MMA star Alexander Gustafsson taking on Anthony Smith, with Gustafsson pretty heavily favored to pick up the win in front of his countrymen.
In boxing, the long-awaited North American debut of Anthony Joshua is finally here! Joshua will be putting his IBF, WBA and WBO Heavyweight Championships on the line against challenger Andy Ruiz, Jr. Ruiz, of course, was not originally slated to be Joshua’s opponent for this fight. However, after original opponent Jarrell Miller popped for a banned performance-enhancing substance, Ruiz stepped up to challenge the champion.
The betting odds for both bouts are pretty heavily tilted towards the favorite side, though Joshua’s (-2100) odds to win are dramatically heavier than Gustafsson’s odds to defeat Smith.
