Top 5 NCAA Basketball Against the Point Spread (ATS): Betting Cats and Rats

5 Minute Read

The 2021-22 NCAA Division I College Basketball season is kicking into full gear, and as the tournaments and non-conference openers slowly make way for Conference play and the hardcourt wheat is slowly separated from the chaff.

And as the final scores start to roll in, we can see who is both making and losing money betting on college basketball by the Against the Spread (ATS) records of the 358 teams who are playing NCAA Division I College Basketball right now.

And while many choose to focus only on who is winning ATS, it is also a very wise thing to pay attention to those teams who are losing money. The Cats make money while the Rats lose money, so keeping track of who’s a Cat and who’s a Rat matters.

Below are 10 of the top teams who have been winning or losing money ATS so far to start the NCAAB season. The Top 5 NCAA Basketball ATS Cats had gone 25-0-0 ATS (100%) while the Top 5 NCAA Basketball ATS Rats were 0-25-0 ATS (0%).

Last year, the Top Cat in NCAAB ATS was Oregon State (23-9-1 ATS) with 23 point spread covers (71.9%, +6.1 +/-) while the two King Rats ATS in NCAAB 2020-21 were Arizona State (6-19-0 ATS, 24%) and Eastern Illinois (7-20-0 ATS, 25.9%).
