Minute Read

A few months ago, my colleague wrote on the betting odds for Game of Thrones’ season eight. With a little more than two months until the new season is set to air, I felt now is the perfect time to cover the updated Game of Thrones betting odds currently available. There are some fantastic wagers from Mybookie.ag that offer bettors a real chance to win big.

Game of Thrones fans should expect the unexpected this season. I’ll be giving my best predictions for each of the wagers listed below, but there are a huge number of directions the show could go in.

Let’s get into it!

Bet on the First Character to Die in Season 8

Game of Thrones has no issue killing off characters. Even stars of the show that looked like they would have major roles have met grisly deaths early on. Now, one of the best online betting sites in the US is offering updated Game of Thrones betting odds for which character is slain first.

Favorites to Die First

Yara Greyjoy: +200

This one isn’t a huge surprise. At the end of season seven, Yara Greyjoy’s ship was attacked by her uncle Euron and his soldiers. Yara has had a tumultuous relationship with Euron since they split their alliances earlier in the show.

It certainly appears like Yara is set to die. Then again, her brother Theon rallied Yara’s soldiers at the end of the season and swore to save her. Will Euron kill Yara before Theon can get to her?

Yara Greyjoy death

It would be very Game of Thrones-esque for Yara to be killed before Theon can get to her. Then again, it would be quite the redemption story if Theon and Euron fight to the death and Yara is actually set free. At the moment, Yara’s odds to die first next season are the highest at +200.

The odds that Theon bites the dust first are not far behind at +400. Euron’s close as well in the updated Game of Thrones betting odds for first death at +800.

The Mountain: +500

Gregor Clegane, more commonly known as “the Mountain,” has kept somewhat of a low profile after his resurrection in season five. He’s definitely done what he does best, killing a bunch of people at the hand of Cersei Lannister, but he seems destined to die for good at some point this season. The question is whether or not he’ll be the first character to die.

If anyone’s going to kill the Mountain, it has to be “the Hound.” They had a pretty tense confrontation (although Gregor didn’t actually say anything) at the end of season seven. The Hound has a serious vendetta against the Mountain dating back to his childhood, and they are almost certainly going to battle it out this season.

The Mountain is not a good guy, and most people will probably be happy to see him die this season. Personally, I don’t think he’s the first one to die. I think they will build up a matchup between Gregor and the Hound over the course of a few episodes. That prediction could certainly be wrong though, and Mybookie.ag currently lists the Mountain’s odds to die first at +500.

Tormund Giantsbane: +800

Hardcore Game of Thrones fans love Tormund Giantsbane. He first appeared in the show during season three. The leader of wildlings was at one time a fierce enemy to Jon Snow, even ordering his death at one point. By season 7, he’s one of Jon’s most trusted allies.

After the intense battle scene against the White Walkers on the frozen lake, Tormund is seen manning the wall separating the seven kingdoms from the northlands. The final scene in season seven shows the Night King burning through the wall using a resurrected Viserion. At this point, it’s unclear whether or not Tormund survived.

I think it’s pretty safe to assume Tormund survived the wall breach. He’s been an important character throughout the past few seasons, and it’s unlikely that he would die so suddenly. I actually think Tormund goes on to become the true leader of the wildings at the end of season eight. I could be wrong. A bet on Tormund being the first to die could definitely pay off, as the updated Game of Thrones betting odds are currently listing him as a +800 favorite.

My Prediction for Who Dies First in Season 8

Euron Greyjoy: +800

I’ve already explained the situation that they Greyjoys currently find themselves in. Euron has Yara captive, and Theon is on his way to save the day. I’m predicting that Theon succeeds in killing Euron in the first scenes of the season.

I also think Theon dies in the process, too. Regardless, Euron will be the first to die. Mark my words.

Who Will Rule Westeros at the End of Season 8?

This has been the main topic of discussion since the very beginning of Game of Thrones. Each season has been building up the question of who will end up sitting on the Iron Throne. Mybookie.ag is now offering updated Game of Thrones betting odds for this exact scenario.

There are a number of close betting favorites here. The show could take any number of approaches as to who the ruler of Westeros will be. Let’s look at the top three betting favorites.

Favorites to End up Ruling Westeros

Jon Snow: +175

If season eight of Game of Thrones takes a traditional approach, Jon Snow should end up as the King of Westeros. We found out last season that he is the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, and he’s consistently proven himself to be fair, strong, and smart.

It was revealed last season that Jon is the son of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. He’s the rightful King right now, and most characters now know it. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that Jon even wants to be King of Westeros. He’s a pretty mild-mannered guy, and more than likely will want to live out the rest of his days in his home of Winterfell.

That may change after the battle against the White Walkers, though. Maybe Jon will realize he’s the only person truly capable of being a leader. We shall see as the season progresses. For now, he’s at the top of the updated Game of Thrones betting odds to rule Westeros at +175.

Bran Stark: +250

What a journey Bran Stark has been on. During the first season of the show, he was pushed off a castle wall and left paralyzed from the waist down. Since that time, he’s become one of the most important (and perhaps, powerful) characters in Game of Thrones.

Bran, or the Three-Eyed Raven, has the ability to see into the future, as well as enter the minds of humans and animals. The Night King seems to be particularly concerned with Bran. In season six, the leader of the White Walkers and his army attempted to kill Bran.

There are some interesting theories floating around this character. Some feel he is actually the Night King in the future. Others feel he is the only character capable of defeating the Night King. For now, he’s near the top of the updated Game of Thrones betting odds to rule Westeros at the show’s finale at +250.

Daenerys Targaryen: +250

The mother of dragons is the final betting favorite to rule Westeros that I’ll cover today. Daenerys has been on quite the journey herself. She’s progressed from being sold to the Dothraki to ruling the majority of the seven kingdoms in a very short period of time. Daenerys is the only character on the show to control dragons (until the Night King got one) and has been on a pathway to the Iron Throne since season one.

Even Jon Snow has pledged his allegiance to Daenerys. She has a serious vendetta against the White Walkers after they killed Viserion, though her anger could potentially lead to her downfall.

I don’t think we’ll see Daenerys sitting on the Iron Throne this season. For one, it would just be too predictable. Also, it just doesn’t seem likely that the throne will go to someone who wants it so badly.

My Prediction for the Ruler of Westeros at the End of This Season

Jon Snow: +175

It might seem a little lame to pick Jon Snow here, but I’m doing it. He has everything needed to be a good ruler, particularly after making alliances with many of the most powerful people in the kingdom. Jon is reckless at times and could certainly perish at some point this season, but if he doesn’t, he will end up ruler.

I feel confident that this is a good bet to make. Mybookie.ag is giving Snow odds of +175 to end up on the Iron Throne. Check out their full list of odds below and see for yourself who else is favored to sit on the throne.
