Dak Prescott QB Analysis

  • Name: Dak Prescott
  • Throwing Hand: Right
  • Height: 6 ft 2 in
  • Weight: 235
  • DOB: July 29, 1993
  • College: Mississippi State

Dallas got a steal in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft when they landed franchise quarterback Dak Prescott. With Tony Romo hurt in the preseason, Prescott began his career as the team's starter, going on to win Offensive Rookie of the Year and a trip to the Pro Bowl in his first-ever campaign. Since then, he's gone on to a 32-16 regular season record, a 96.0 career passer rating, and a second trip to the Pro Bowl.

While Dak struggled in his second season, in hindsight, this seems to be a result of the Cowboys lack of a number-one receiver. Dez Bryant lost his ability to separate from defenders and grew increasingly disruptive in the locker room and was cut in 2018. It wasn't until the organization traded for Amari Cooper last season that Dak Prescott returned to form.

When you visit any of the top Dallas Cowboys betting sites, the health and recent performances of the QB will be vital details to consider. Fortunately, they have an excellent defense and phenomenal offensive line to give him all the support Dak will need so keep that in mind when visiting NFL betting sites.

Don't Forget These Players When Betting on the Cowboys

Ezekiel Elliott

Ezekiel Elliott

If you're looking to wager on "America's Team" this year at the best Cowboys betting sites, Ezekiel Elliott is a key factor to their success. The Ohio State running back has been the focal point of the Cowboys' offense since the day he was drafted fourth-overall, amassing over 4,000 yards in his career already, leading the league in rushing yards twice in his three years in the NFL.

Last year, Elliott also became a significant part of the passing attack, catching 77 balls for 567 yards receiving and three TDs. He's an All-Pro safety valve for Dak when his first WR options-Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup-aren't open. Elliot's consistency is probably the number one thing to keep an eye out for when betting on the Dallas Cowboys this season.

Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper

You can basically divide the Dallas Cowboys' 2017-18 season into two parts: pre- and post-Amari Cooper. As soon as the Raiders dealt the 2015 fourth-overall pick, Dallas' offense came alive, and Dak Prescott returned to his rookie season form, if not better. We should get a full season of Cooper at WR1 this year, and with Randall Cobb in the slot and Michael Gallup continuing to progress across from him, the "overs" might be hitting often at the top Dallas Cowboys betting sites.

However, if Cooper goes down for an extended amount of time, it could be disastrous for the Cowboys. We saw how quickly Amari became Dak's favorite target last season, the difference in the offense before and after his acquisition is night and day. With Zeke likely lost for a large chunk of the year, they can't afford losing this offensive threat too.

The Entire Defense

Dallas Cowboys Defense

If there's one reason to feel confident visiting Cowboys betting sites to place some futures wagers, it's their defense. Every position group is stacked with talent. In the trenches, they have DeMarcus Lawrence, Taco Charlton, and Robert Quinn, with solid DT Christian Covington added to the mix this offseason.

Their linebackers and corners are just as impressive. The presence of Leighton Vander Esch and Jaylon Smith at LB make Sean Lee's annual injury woes less of an issue, so anything they get from their veteran backer now is a bonus. Then, at cornerback, you have two CB1-level athletes in Chidobe Awuzie and Byron Jones (Pro Bowler). If this unit stays remotely healthy, they'll be a key factor to consider anytime you visit your top Cowboys betting sites.

Jerry Jones: (1989 - Present)

Jerry Jones bought the Dallas Cowboys for $140 million in 1989 and immediately started cleaning house. He fired Tom Landry right away and brought in Jimmy Johnson-his old college teammate at the University of Arkansas-from the University of Miami. The roster was overhauled as well, with Jones' aggressive style paying dividends early.

The Cowboys became an elite team in 1990 and went on to win three Super Bowls in the decade. That being said, since the '90s, Jerry has been desperately trying to build another winner without much success. However, 2019 might be his best chance to return to the Super Bowl in decades.

Bum Bright: (1984 - 1989)

Bum Bright only owned the Cowboys for five years before selling the franchise to the current owner, Jerry Jones. The wealthy businessman purchased the team in 1984 for $85 million but oversaw some of the least successful years in the organization's history.

He was continually talked out of firing Tom Landry by then-GM Tex Schramm. Bright ultimately chose to sell the Cowboys to Jerry Jones, despite receiving better offers, because he trusted that he'd make the needed changes and clean house, which Bum didn't have the heart to do.

Clint Murchison: (1960 - 1984)

Clint Murchison founded the Dallas Cowboys in 1960, thanks to some clever maneuvering to obtain approval from the other NFL owners. After an attempt to purchase the Washington Redskins soured his relationship with the franchise's owner, George Preston Marshall opposed any proposals for an expansion team in Dallas.

However, when the Redskins' band leader and Marshall had a falling out, Murchison used the opportunity to purchase the rights "Hail to the Redskins," Washington's fight song. At the vote to either approve or deny a new Dallas franchise, the future Cowboys owner let it be known that the song would not be allowed to be played at games. Of course, he'd sell the rights back to George Marshall in exchange for a "yes" vote. Thus, the Dallas Cowboys were born, and so was their rivalry with the Washington Redskins.

Team Logos

Cowboys' Blue Star (1960 - Present)

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the few teams that have had the same logo for the entirety of the franchise's history. It's a blue star meant to represent Texas, "The Lone Star State." The only change came in 1964, shortly after the team's founding, when the white line and blue border was added around the perimeter of the star.
