Apache Casino Construction Is a Major Upgrade

Renovations are currently taking place at one of Oklahoma’s most revered tribal casino. This gaming establishment has already undergone several upgrades over the past few years. The current Apache Casino construction will be a great addition to one of Oklahoma’s most popular gambling centers.

Oklahoma’s History of Gambling

Oklahoma has been a major hub for casinos over the years. In 2002, state legislators here began granting class three licenses to tribal casinos. This allowed these gambling establishments to begin offering Vegas-style games like baccarat, poker, and slot machines.

Before long, Oklahoma was attracting millions of gambling visitors from nearby states like Texas, where gambling is banned. Casinos here began generating billions of dollars in revenue, 35% of which goes to the state government

Last July, Oklahoma introduced new legislation that would allow for “sports pools” to be offered inside the state’s casinos. These land-based sportsbooks would allow for “wagering on the outcome of one or more competitive games in which athletes participate, or on one or more performances of such athletes in such games where all bets are placed in a common pool or pot from which all player winnings, prizes and direct costs are paid.”

As of February 2019, no vote has been made on this legislation. There is no indication that officials here will begin pushing harder for legal sports betting anytime soon.

There are now more than 35 different casinos spread around Oklahoma. The Apache Casino has done very well in attracting people from the Lawton and surrounding areas, and the Apache Casino construction will likely help to bring in even more gamblers.

Apache Casino Construction and Improvements Over the Years

This casino is currently in the process of building a solid structure surrounding the tent that’s been used as its exterior for years. The tent is more than a decade old and was beginning to break down due to the weather.

“As a tent structure, we ran into some complications where the fabric is wearing its self out, and so we’ve gone through and done patching and done some other things, and now it’s time to make a permanent structure,” said Brady Jones, VP of the company tasked with the new renovations.

The newest renovation is just one of many over the past ten years. In 2012, the casino built a 132-room hotel worth $27 million. In 2015, they added a 50,000 square-foot event center.

The current construction will help protect the building while adding a brand-new look. It’s an exciting time for one of Oklahoma’s most revered gaming centers.

Updates on Online Gambling in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has been pretty lenient on their gambling laws over the years. Unfortunately, this state has not yet introduced legislation to regulate online gambling. The DOJ’s recent opinion on the Wire Act isn’t likely to help.

Many people here still head to the online gambling sites available in the US to make their wagers. The majority of these websites offer a huge range of different gambling options including sports betting and casino games.

Oklahoma isn’t likely to regulate online gambling anytime soon. Luckily, there are enough casinos here to keep everyone busy.

The new Apache casino construction is a positive sign for the gambling industry here. Who knows? Maybe before long Oklahoma will have a gaming scene that rivals New Jersey. Let us know how you think Oklahoma’s gambling industry could be improved in the comment section below!
