You Can Bet on Tom Brady Suspension Odds
Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are inching closer to some discipline from the NFL, after a report conducted by Ted Wells recently indicated that Brady and the Pats “probably” broke league rules.
Wells determined that it was “more probable than not” that Brady had at least some kind of awareness regarding New England staff members deflating footballs below league requirements, while two staff members were basically caught red-handed.
The details have been out there for the public to peruse and come to their own conclusions. Now it’s up to the NFL to hand down discipline, or sweep this whole thing under the rug for good.
According to reports, it’s extremely likely Brady receives some type of suspension. Bovada is playing with the idea, as they’ve put up three interesting prop bets involving Brady and his looming suspension.
Take a look for yourself:
How many games will Tom Brady be suspended for 2015?
Over/Under: 3.5 games
Will Brady be suspended at least one game in 2015 as a result of #Deflategate?
Will Brady be suspended for the entire 2015 season?
Predicting any or all of these is easier said than done, but it’s fair to assume we can probably lay a hefty bet on “no” for the last one. While Brady will probably see some type of suspension come his way, almost every expert that has discussed any potential discipline agrees Brady won’t be taken away from the league for a full year.
Numerous experts have played around with the idea of a small two-game ban, while others suggest 6-8 games is a big suspension, but one that more appropriately fits the crime.
If Brady deflated balls, one could argue he’s a cheater and he negatively impacted the integrity of the game. And depending on how long we’re to believe he’s been doing this, he may have been getting an unfair advantage for quite some time.
Then again, how will the league look if they ban one of their best players, who happens to be a defending Super Bowl champion, when players like Ray Rice and Greg Hardy have committed much uglier acts off the field and have had lesser sentences?
That could impact how Brady is disciplined, or the league could use such a big star as an example of what they think of cheating. One way or another, Brady is probably not playing 16 games in 2015, and that could deliver a huge impact in a number of ways. It could keep the Patriots from repeating as Super Bowl champs or even making it back to the playoffs, or, depending on which bet you roll with, it could make you a heck of a lot richer.
