  • Lawmakers in Connecticut approved a measure to legalize sports betting last May.
  • Approval from various federal government bodies has been required for sportsbooks to live here.
  • Permission from the Department of Consumer Protection could allow Connecticut’s sports betting industry to launch on September 30.

For the past couple of months, lawmakers in Connecticut have been working hard to get the state’s first sportsbooks up and running. It’s been a longer and more difficult process than some initially expected. New reports claim that Connecticut’s sports betting industry could end up going live next week.

Millions of residents have been pushing to see this industry go live. Now is a great time to talk about when this could happen. We’ll also discuss exactly which sports gambling options are set to become available here.

Let’s get into it!

The Launch Date for Connecticut’s Sports Betting Industry Seems Set

The US sports betting industry has been rapidly expanding over the past few years. PASPA’s removal in 2018 changed the entire sports betting market. Today, half the country has legal and regulated sports betting options set in place.

Connecticut’s lawmakers approved a measure to allow sports betting back in May of this year. This did not mean that sportsbooks immediately launched here. Instead, officials needed to receive permission from the US Department of Interior for this industry to launch.

If all goes according to plan, the launch date for Connecticut’s sports betting industry will be September 30. This would likely come as a “soft launch” The CT Lottery Board has already filed an application for this soft launch to the Department of Consumer Protection. Governor Ned Lamont is not convinced and expects this launch to take place in early October.

“I think you’re going to have sort of a soft opening in very early October and formally by Oct. 7,” Lamont said.

This should all be very exciting news for residents here. Most state leaders in Connecticut agree that sports betting options will become available within the next few weeks. Stay tuned for updates on the official launch!

What Other States are Close to Launching Their First Sportsbooks?

Connecticut is not the only state to have approved sports betting legislation without launching any sportsbooks. Several are in the same situation. Finding the correct approvals and coming up with specific regulations for this form of gambling has proven to be more difficult than some expected.

Louisiana is another state yet to formally launch any sportsbooks. This has been a frustrating situation for the millions of hardcore sports fans here looking for wagering options. Sports betting laws have been approved on a parish-by-parish level and the goal seems to be to get sportsbooks live here within a month or two.

Florida is in the same position, as well. Much of the issue here remains between the Seminole Tribe and various Pari-Mutuel companies. These companies are engaging in legal battles over the tribe’s right to launch statewide online sportsbooks.

2022 is expected to be a very big year for this industry. If all goes according to plan, several major markets including California could open up. It may not be long before nearly the entire country has a regulated sports betting industry set in place.

For now, all eyes remain on Connecticut. We’ll be sure to report on the launch of sports betting in other states around the country as the year goes on.

Breaking Down the Best Week 3 NFL Betting Options

Week two of the NFL’s 2021/2022 season has concluded. In the final game of the week, the Green Bay Packers scored a fairly one-sided victory over the Detroit Lions. It was disappointing news for the one bettor that nearly turned a $25 bet into more than $730,000 on a 16-game parlay.

Football fans around the US are now looking to make their wagers on week three. BetOnline is currently the best site offering odds on the entire season. There are some unique betting opportunities available for the upcoming games taking place.

Thursday’s game between the Carolina Panthers (-370) and Houston Texans (+300) is drawing in some major fan attention right now. The Panthers are 2-0 this season with a recent win over the Saints. Houston comes in with a record of 1-1, yet some feel they are poised to pull off the upset here.

Sunday’s big game between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (-127) and LA Rams (+107) is another one fans are choosing to bet on early. Tampa Bay comes into this game off two straight wins against solid teams. The Rams are also undefeated and just scored a big victory over the Colts in their last game. Stay tuned for more in-depth betting breakdowns of these games as they draw closer.
