A showdown between Top 6 heavyweight contenders Curtis Blaydes and Jairzinho Rozenstruik has been booked for UFC 266.

MMAFighting was the first to report on Tuesday that the no. 4 ranked Blaydes has agreed to face the 6th ranked Rozenstruik on the September 25th PPV event which still has no announced venue.

With reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou targeted to defend his belt against Derrick Lewis one event earlier at UFC 265, this bout between Blaydes and Rozenstruik is crucial because the winner could end up facing the winner of the UFC 265 heavyweight title fight.

Razor Looks to Rebound

Blaydes looks to rebound after his march towards his first-ever UFC shot was abruptly halted when he was sensationally knocked out by Derrick Lewis in a massive upset at UFC Vegas 19 last February 20th.

Entering the fight as a sizeable betting favorite at the best UFC betting sites, Razor ate a massive uppercut from the Black Beast that put him to sleep right away. Prior to that defeat, Blaydes had won four straight bouts, including notable wins over former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and former Bellator heavyweight titleholder Alexander Volkov.

The 30-year old former NJCAA folkstyle wrestling national champion is 9-3 with one no-contest inside the UFC Octagon. Aside from Lewis, the only other fighter to beat Blaydes in the UFC is current heavyweight Francis Ngannou who knocked him out in 2016 and 2018. Overall, Razor has a record of 14-3 with 10 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

Bigi Boi’s Buzzer-Beating Knockout

Meanwhile, Rozenstruik successfully bounced back from a  loss to Cyril Gane with a Performance of the Night-winning buzzer-beating knockout of Augusto Sakai at UFC Vegas 28 just last June 5th at the UFC’s APEX Facility in Sin City.

Bigi Boi started his UFC career with four consecutive victories before running into Francis Ngannou at UFC 249 where he was flattened by the Predator in just twenty seconds for his first ever career defeat as a professional fighter. He defeated former heavyweight champ Junior Dos Santos in his next bout but then suffered another setback when he lost a five-round decision against the more agile Gane last February.

Rozenstruik is 6-2 with six knockouts while fighting under the UFC. The 33-year old former kickboxer from Suriname has an impressive record of 12-2 with 11 knockouts.

Aside from Cigano, Bigi Boi also holds notable victories over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski and former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem.
