Right before the holiday weekend was set to begin, the FanDuel Group made a significant step toward expanding their online gaming platform by agreeing to a partnership with fuboTV, an over-the-top (OTT) live internet streaming service. This unique partnership will greatly advance FanDuel’s efforts to remain a leader in the sports betting industry.
The partnership makes FanDuel the exclusive sportsbook, daily fantasy sports, and online casino partner. FanDuel will also be the exclusive advertiser across all of those categories within fuboTV. The deal will also bring FanDuel’s TVG and TVG2, horse racing networks, to fuboTV.
The arrangement between fuboTV and FanDuel is good just in New Jersey for now, but over time, that deal will be expanded to include other states as sports betting becomes legal there.
TVG network will join the base package offered by fuboTV for $54.99 a month, and TVG2 will join the Sports Plus add-on package for $8.99 a month. Both of these channels will feature fantasy and sports betting news as well as horse racing industry coverage.
Within the next few weeks, fuboTV will integrate FanDuel’s betting data, including the TVG channels as well as all of the other fuboTV-branded channels, in the programming guide, on content detail pages, and elsewhere. This means that as of right now, the betting data is only on fubo Cycling and fubo Network, aside from on the horse racing channels. In addition, betting data at the start is limited to soccer, horse racing, and cycling, since those are the sports covered by those pertinent channels. Out of 90+ channels and a multitude of sports, that’s a fairly limited integration we’ll be seeing for now.
fuboTV says eventually it will expand to other channels and sports, but it will need to make some more deals for that to occur.
As for FanDuel’s involvement, it will only be providing data to fuboTV. It will not facilitate any sports betting, nor will there be any clickthrough options that will take viewers to FanDuel’s site. According to Adam Kaplan, the VP of Content Business and Operations of FanDuel, this deal signals a change in how people view live sports:
“We’re partnering with fuboTV to demonstrate how FanDuel can enhance the live viewing experience by allowing cord-cutting sports fans to view the content that matters to them the most from their TV, phone, tablet, or computer. FuboTV is a sports-centric company, focused on live sports and entertainment content, making them a natural partner. By integrating our odds and data on fuboTV’s platform, we are truly changing the way people watch live sports.”
This groundbreaking partnership is expected to be one of many to come for the FanDuel Group. For their part, fuboTV believes that this deal will continue to show their commitment to providing customers with a more unique experience. The TVG channels will launch in the upcoming weeks.
