Lawmakers in Florida approved gaming compacts with the Seminole Tribe in May of this year.
Pair-Mutuel groups quickly filed lawsuits to stop any online sportsbooks from going live in the state.
A court’s decision on Florida’s legal sports betting industry may finally come this November.
Politicians in the state of Florida approved measures to legalize and regulate sports betting last May. Several groups have since filed lawsuits, challenging these measures and delaying the launch of any sports gambling options here. New reports indicate Florida’s legal sports betting industry could be decided this November.
An official verdict on the legal challenges to the state’s sports betting plans will be made in November. There is reason to believe sports fans here may receive some good news. Now is a great time to talk about what exactly is happening with this situation.
Here’s what you need to know.
Judge Will Rule on Florida’s Legal Sports Betting Industry This November
Florida has developed a large and successful gaming industry over the past couple of decades. The Seminole Tribe largely controls this industry. It owns and operates the vast majority of Class III casino-resorts in the state.
Unsurprisingly, the Seminole Tribe is also looking to gain control over the state’s sports betting industry. It took lawmakers years to come up with compacts with the tribe to allow the launch of regulated sports betting. Finally, in May of this year, Governor DeSantis approved a compact that will allow both land-based and online sports betting.
On November 5, a judge will finally make an official ruling on Florida’s legal sports betting industry. Essentially, this will be a decision on whether or not this industry can go live before 2023. If the judge sides with the pari-mutuels, it could seriously delay its launch. Siding with the Seminole could allow for a measure to allow online sports betting to reach the public voting ballots in November, paving the way for an early 2023 launch.
Many will be eagerly waiting to hear how things play out in November. We’ll be sure to offer updates on this upcoming legal battle as it draws closer.
More States Prepare for the Launch of Their First Sportsbooks
Florida is far from the only state working to get its first regulated sportsbooks up and running. Several other states passed sports betting legislation already in 2021. Officials in these states are now putting the final touches on the regulations to monitor this industry.
Arizona and Washington are two parts of the country that recently launched sportsbooks. This was done in time for the opening week of the 2021/2022 NFL season. It seems both states have seen a huge surge of revenue flowing in from these new sportsbooks.
Many are now looking forward to seeing Louisiana, Maryland, and Connecticut launch their first sportsbooks. Each of these states is home to large, passionate sports fan bases. It seems likely that sports betting options will become available in these areas within the next couple of months.
There are some fantastic online sportsbooks available throughout the entire country offering odds on this season’s games. Below is a quick look at some of the odds available this week!
Best Week 2 NFL Betting Odds Available Online
The first game of the NFL’s second week has just wrapped up! The Washington Football Team managed to pull off the narrow victory over the New York Giants on Thursday. It was an exciting game that led to big payouts for many bettors around the country.
BetOnline is now offering some incredible odds for the games taking place this Sunday. Perhaps the most noteworthy matchup takes place between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens. Both teams have big aspirations to make it to the Super Bowl this season.
The Chiefs come into this game as the -195 favorites. Their offense is elite, yet they showed some issues stopping the running game of Cleveland last week. The Ravens enter this game as the +170 underdogs and may be looking to exploit that possible weakness in the Chiefs’ game.
Many are also looking forward to the game between the San Francisco 49ers (-152) and Philadelphia Eagles (+132). Both teams came out victorious in their week one games. The odds reflect just how difficult this week two game is to predict.
