Delicia Cordon, the ex-girlfriend of the Buffalo Bills All-Pro running back LeSean McCoy, filed a lawsuit against one of the NFL’s top running backs as a result of her being beaten bloody during a home invasion robbery at McCoy’s mansion in Georgia. The incident took place on July 10th and Cordon filed the lawsuit in Fulton County on Friday, August 10th, 2018. She not only named McCoy, but she also named his former college teammate Tamarcus Porter as defendants.
Both the Buffalo Bills and the NFL have said they’re looking into the incident.
The lawsuit claims McCoy should financially liable for all of the serious injuries that Delicia Cordon suffered as a result of the attack. She claims that McCoy changed all of the security codes to the shared mansion and refused to provide the new codes, which left her defenseless.
They former couple had been going through an eviction dispute at the time. The suit does not specifically allege that McCoy ordered the attack, but claims the attacker “indicated he knew McCoy,” according to the lawsuit that was initially reported by WKBW-TV.
The lawsuit also says that
“McCoy had actual and constructive knowledge of criminal activity existing on the property on July 10, 2018”
due to his alleged access of security cameras that captured the live video feed at the mansion.
The lawsuit asks for damages for stolen jewelry valued at $133,000 and furniture valued at $13,000 that was taken by friends and family of McCoy when they tried to evict her from the premises when she was in another state at her sister’s graduation ceremony.
Cordon’s lawyer Tanya Mitchell Graham said in a statement to news outlets that Cordon was physically assaulted on July 10th by a man who got into the home with no signs of forced entry. He demanded from her certain pieces of jewelry that she had received as gifts from McCoy, who had previously asked for them back numerous times.
Another unnamed female, said to be Cordon’s cousin, was also injured in the attack. The break-in and assault happened at 3:18 AM ET in the upscale neighborhood located roughly 30 miles north of Atlanta.
LeSean McCoy denies the allegations and has hired a lawyer for himself, Don Samuel, from Atlanta. Samuel is from the same law firm that defended former NFL star Ray Lewis when he was charged with the stabbing deaths of two men in 2000. He was originally charged with murder but both counts were dropped and he pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice.
On Twitter, McCoy said he had nothing to do with it.
“For the record, the totally baseless and offensive claims made against me are completely false. Furthermore, I have not had any direct contact with any of the people involved in months.”
McCoy had been to court in June to initiate eviction proceedings against Cordon. McCoy’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has not made a statement. The Buffalo Bills are carrying on with training camp and the preseason. The team is surprised at the lack of information provided to them by law enforcement.
LeSean McCoy was traded to the Bills from the Philadelphia Eagles before the 2015 season. He is a six-time Pro Bowler and has rushed for more than 10,000 yards in his NFL career. He’s been dubbed the heart and soul of the Bills’ offense.
Milton Police Captain Charles Barstow said that when the police arrived they located one woman who had been physically assaulted “by a lone intruder,” she was taken to the hospital for injuries and then released from North Fulton Regional hospital. No arrests have been made at this time.
