The highly anticipated rematch between British rivals and top light heavyweights Lyndon Arthur and Anthony Yarde is a pick’em fight.

Both fighters opened at -112 odds when the betting line for their December bout went live on Wednesday at the best boxing betting sites.

Arthur and Yarde have agreed to fight on Saturday, December 4th at the Copper Box Arena in London in a boxing event that will be broadcast by BT Sports. Their new fight date is one year and one day after they fought to a close 12-round split decision at the Church House in London. Arthur got the nod of two judges and was awarded the points victory.

Arthur Takes out Faraci Inside Nine Rounds

Arthur kept his unbeaten record by taking out Italian David Faraci in his most recent bout last July. The Manchester light-heavyweight had a slow start but upped the pace in the later rounds before stopping the previously unbeaten Italian in the penultimate round of their scheduled 10-round bout.

The 30-year old Commonwealth and WBO Inter-continental light heavyweight champion thus improved his perfect record to 19-0 with 13 knockouts. He closed as a betting favorite of at least -650 in four out of his last five bouts. In the other bout during that period, he was the +400 underdog when he upset Yarde last July.

That victory gave Arthur the no. 1 spot in the WBO light heavyweight rankings and put him in line to challenge current champion Joe Smith Jr. Smith was supposed to defend the belt against Umar Salamov this month but the champion has been postponed indefinitely as Smith continues to recover from a battle with COVID-19. If Arthur beats Yarde again, he could solidify his mandatory challenger status.

Yarde KOs Alex Theran in One Round

Yarde meanwhile, returned to his winning ways by scoring a first-round knockout over an overmatched Alex Theran in August. The 30-year old from London dropped Theran to his knees in the opening minute before finishing him off with a left hook to the body with 40 seconds left in the bout.

The former WBO Intercontinental and WBO European champion has closed as the betting favorite of -500 in 11 out of his last 12 bouts, including 10 where he was listed at -1000 or shorter. The only time Yarde wasn’t favored in a boxing bout before was when he closed as the +186 betting underdog during his title challenge against Sergey Kovalev. Yarde lost that bout via 11th round TKO.

Aside from Kovalev, the only other blot in Yarde’s resume was the split decision loss to Arthur which he is aching to take back. Now ranked 6th by the WBC, 10th by the IBF, and 12th by the WBO, Yarde is looking to move up the rankings and a win over the WBO no. 1 contender. Of course, he wants revenge too, after Arthur snapped his three-bout winning streak.
