Back in November of 2020, Mike Tyson made his return to the sport of boxing after more than 15 years on the sidelines. The fight was a huge success and many fans have been left wondering if “Iron Mike” would ever compete again. This week, coach Rafael Cordeiro revealed that Mike Tyson’s next boxing match will be taking place this September.

It’s exciting news for boxing fans to hear. Even at 54 years old, Tyson seems to be in fantastic shape. Now is a great time to talk about some of the possible opponents for Mike to face in his next bout.

Let’s get into it!

More Boxing Legends are Preparing for Major Comebacks

The sport of boxing is filled with true legends. At a certain point, every fighter is forced to walk away as a competitor. Some, however, are only able to stay away from the fight game for so long. Some of boxing’s true legends are now preparing to make a return to the ring this year.

That includes Oscar De La Hoya. “The Golden Boy” was one of boxing’s biggest stars during his run in the sport in the 90s and early 2000s. After retiring as a fighter, he founded one of the largest boxing promotional companies in the world.

De La Hoya has been preparing to make a comeback over the past few months. He seems interested in taking on an MMA fighter in his next bout. Interestingly, an official opponent for Oscar has not been revealed to the public.

Evander Holyfield has been hinting at a comeback for months, too. He seemed to take inspiration from the return of Mike Tyson. Evander seems to be getting into fantastic shape and is tentatively booked to take on Kevin McBride at some point this year.

It’s an interesting time for the sport of boxing. Celebrity boxing matches have been growing considerably more popular and that trend is showing no signs of slowing down. Several more of these bouts are already scheduled to take place over the next few months.

Mike Tyson is one of the men responsible for this new trend of celebrity boxing. It now appears he will step back into the ring again later this year. Here’s what we know about this situation.

Coach Claims Mike Tyson’s Next Boxing Match is Coming in September

Mike Tyson is widely considered to be one of the greatest fighters of all time. He was a massive sports star during his time as heavyweight champion and retired from his fighting career in 2005. Afterward, Tyson had several brushes with the law and most felt he would never make a comeback to the ring.

Throughout 2020, Tyson was shown training extremely hard. He indicated he planned to fight again and eventually announced he was taking on fellow boxing legend, Roy Jones Jr. In November of last year, these men took part in an eight-round exhibition match.

No one seemed to know if Mike would ever fight again. He seems content with his outside business ventures, yet hasn’t lost his competitive spirit. This week, coach Rafael Cordeiro spoke with the media and claimed that Mike Tyson’s next boxing match will be taking place this September.

“We continue training. He’s an athlete and is always training, hitting pads here in the gym. I think we’re going to have something in September,” he said. “I don’t know who because his company Legends Only League is working on it and negotiating a TV deal so they can announce a schedule, but we’re training. We’ll be fighting in September.”

Obviously, longtime boxing fans will be excited to hear that Tyson plans to compete again. Some criticized his most recent exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. He looked great at times during that fight, though, and may come into this fight looking even sharper.

No opponents have yet been named. Based on the current trend, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see him take on a well-known MMA fighter. Stay tuned for more updates on Mike Tyson’s next boxing match over the next few months.

The Return of Jake Paul Takes Place This August

Mike Tyson’s comeback fight back in November of 2020 drew in a huge amount of media attention. Many also tuned into this event to see the second professional boxing fight of Jake Paul’s career. He ended up scoring a brutal second-round knockout over Nate Robinson in that fight.

Jake then started challenging a huge number of popular MMA stars. He ended up getting matched up with Ben Askren. Ben came into their fight severely unprepared and Jake Paul earned a first-round knockout over the multiple-promotion MMA champion.

The Boxing vs. MMA theme continues. Not long ago, news broke that Jake Paul has been booked in his fourth professional fight against former UFC champion Tyron Woodley. This fight will be taking place in August.

Some fans are already choosing to head over to BetOnline to make their wagers on this fight. Jake Paul comes in as the -130 favorite. Tyron Woodley will step into the ring as the +100 underdog on fight night.

A huge number of combat sports fans are hoping to see Woodley earn the victory here. He is a thunderous puncher and certainly has the power to earn a victory. Stay tuned for an in-depth betting breakdown of this fight as it draws closer.
