  • New reports are hinting that Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson could take place in the near future.

Nate Diaz doesn’t appear to be interested in hanging up the gloves anytime soon. The UFC fan-favorite continues to call out various opponents and now has his sights set on one of the lightweight division’s biggest names. Is Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson the best fight to make right now?

Fans around the world have already begun to debate how this fight would play out. It seems the news of this fight possibly happening has reached some big stars, as well.

Here’s what we know about this hypothetical matchup.

Rumors of Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson are Beginning to Circulate

Nate Diaz has been one of the UFC’s biggest stars for decades. He seemed to truly break into the mainstream after his submission win over Conor McGregor back in March of 2016. Nate continues to fight when an interesting challenge presents itself and has been competing in the welterweight division for years.

That is why some were surprised when Diaz posted a picture of Tony Ferguson on his Twitter account. It seems this is some kind of unusual challenge from the Stockton brawler. He was initially expected to compete against Vicente Luque next, yet no word on that fight coming together has come out.

There is no doubt that Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson would generate views. Both men have huge followings behind them. They are also known for their incredible exciting styles, with elite boxing and submission skills.

Sites like BetOnline have not yet begun offering odds on this fight. That could change if the UFC decides to move forward and book this contest. Many are also becoming interested in which weight division these two fighters would compete in. Ferguson is a lightweight, yet Diaz has been competing at 170 pounds for years.

For now, we’ll simply need to wait for more information on this possible matchup coming together. It seems the UFC’s biggest star has already heard of this possible fight and offered an unusual response.

Conor McGregor Issues Response to Nate Diaz

Conor McGregor remains the biggest name in combat sports. He last stepped into the Octagon in July and ended up losing via TKO after breaking his ankle against Dustin Poirier. Since then, he has been rehabbing his injury and telling the media he plans to compete again.

It seems that Conor heard the news of Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson possibly coming together. He has a long and storied history with Diaz and has been hinting at a trilogy fight with him for years. McGregor took to Twitter this week and seemed to issue some kind of warning to Diaz.

In typical McGregor fashion, Conor quickly deleted this Tweet. He clearly feels that a third fight against Nate Diaz is still a possibility down the line. His recent Twitter warning is a sign that he plans to compete again at some point in 2022.

A lot is happening across all of the UFC’s weight classes. The lightweight and welterweight divisions are perhaps the most exciting in all of MMA. We’ll be sure to continue offering updates on Nate Diaz’s next bout as soon as they come out.

A huge amount of drama has surrounded this weekend’s fight card at the Apex Center. Here’s an unusual update on the main event between Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori.

Costa vs. Vettori Rebooked to Take Place at 205 Pounds

The UFC is slated to return this weekend with a stacked card at the Apex Center in Las Vegas. In the main event, middleweights Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori are set to compete in what was seen as a possible number-one contenders fight. Unfortunately, Costa came into fight week grossly overweight and the fight was eventually changed to a 195-pound catchweight.

To make matters worse, Costa seemed unwilling to cut any more weight and stepped onto the scale at 204 pounds. The UFC acted quickly and rebooked this contest at 205 pounds. It is one of the most blatant shows of unprofessionalism seen in MMA for quite some time.

The higher-ups in the UFC will not be happy with this news. It seems like almost a guarantee that Costa will find himself cut from the roster with a loss here. Even a win could still end up being his final fight in the UFC due to his recent antics.

BetOnline is still providing some fantastic odds on this fight. Paulo Costa is coming in as the +165 underdog. Vettori will be stepping into the cage as the -190 favorite. It should still be a fun fight between two strong finishers.
