Playtech Continues Gamification with Quickspin Achievments Engine
Swedish software developer Quickspin, part of the Playtech group, unveiled its new gaming achievements engine at this year’s ICE Totally Gaming conference. The new software takes an approach to gaming it hopes will increase player loyalty and value as well as enhance the overall experience while playing Quickspin games.
Gamification is not a new phenomenon, but it certainly has earned the attention of casino operators in recent years due to its potential to enrich the gaming experience for players and drive up their value.
The system is set up to deliver achievements for satisfying event requirements while playing new slots from the developer. These events can include anything from having a Scatter symbol appear on the reels to completing a win with two wilds on the reels. Players who satisfy these achievements are awarded Quickspin tokens. The achievements cover four levels of payouts with increasing rewards for each level.
The Quickspin tokens are used as in-game currency and can be redeemed to unlock bonus features, such as free spins or re-spins. Players will be able to have unique accounts that only they are able to access on each game which will track and record their progress, as well as their tokens balance.
The first game to feature the new engine is Sakura Fortune. The 5-reel, 4-row slot features 40 paylines and some impressively smooth graphics. The slot offers full-reel Wild symbols as well as Scatters help players to create the biggest wins along active paylines.
Daniel Lindberg, Chief Executive Officer at Quickspin offered his thoughts on the achievement system in an interview,
“Gamification is a hot topic right now, and here at Quickspin we believe we have delivered a perfect version of it with our Achievements Engine. By giving back players part of their expected losses via Quickspin tokens, we can add huge value to their experience.”
When asked for his thoughts on how players will react to the new tech in regard to their slots experience, Lindberg was very positive, stating, “It is an effective tool for driving player engagement, too. Inside all of us is an achiever, a part of our brains that like to complete tasks in return for rewards. By building this into our slots via our Achievements Engine, we can better engage players and offer them a more fun and immersive experience.”
On the question of whether or not it would have a defining role in shaping the future of the slots industry, Lindberg responded, “We believe our Achievements Engine sets the standard when it comes to gamification, and look forward to receiving operator and player feedback now that it is available through our latest game release, Sakura Fortune.”
