Shorelines Casino Opens in Belleville

The first land-based casino to open in Ontario in more than 10 years has opened its doors. The new Shorelines Casino and Resort is an entertainment and vacation destination serving Ontario and visitors from around the world. The event was punctuated with an opening ceremony and commemorative gift giveaway for those in attendance.

The property cost the company an estimated $41 million and spans an impressive 48,000 square feet. As the first venue of its kind to open in 10 years, executives as well as Ontario officials were excited at the opportunity to add outlets for entertainment, tourism and tax revenue to benefit the province. Amenities for the venue include a full gaming floor, restaurant and buffet, lounge, patio, and a stage for performances.

More than 300 staff members have been brought on to assist in operations from upper management down to the casino floor. Belleville’s mayor, Taso Christopher, commented “It’s good for employment and the economic component,” on the benefits expected for the municipality and residents.

The annual allocation is still uncertain as officials won’t have any idea of annual revenue until the first year of operation is complete. However, funds have been set aside for revenue derived from operations. The breakdown of how taxes will benefit the city includes, 65% assigned to infrastructure rehabilitation, 10 % assigned to economic development and construction, 5% to public facilities such as playgrounds, and city maintenance vehicles and equipment. An additional 5% will be set aside for disaster relief, and a final 5% will be assigned to land acquisition.

Dining

Offering eateries for those in search of breakfast, lunch, and dinner, the new Shorelines Casino cultivates an atmosphere of fun and excitement with several distinct food and beverage options. Full-size buffet options are available for those with a formidable appetite, with snack-sized options provided when just a little food will do for those looking to get back on the casino floor quickly.

Axis rewards members receive reduced prices on certain items, making it an even more enticing affair at the buffets and Windward restaurant.

Gaming

The casino floor sports more than 450 unique and lucrative slot machines in an array of themes and stake levels. Players can enjoy the games for just a penny every spin, or work their way up to high-roller stakes for greatly increased payouts.

A selection of the most iconic casino table games is featured on the casino floor as well, with roulette, craps, blackjack and more at the ready. In all, 18 tables will be available on the floor. A special VIP area will be assigned its own selection of slots and table games as well.

Promotions are expected to be featured throughout the week on select entertainment options, making certain selections more favorable to partake in.

Axis Rewards

A feature unique to the Shorelines Belleville location, the AXIS rewards program will offer members benefits that increase in potency as their rank within the program increases. Four levels are currently available and membership to join is free.

Blue membership is the option available to new members and will offer increasing benefits the more players collect points for eating, staying and playing at the location. Silver and Gold levels are reached once a certain points milestone is achieved and increase or unlock additional benefits. Privé is a level of rewards membership available by invitation only and offers top-tier benefits for the most active visitors.
