Travis Kelce and the Top Week 13 Daily Fantasy Football Value Picks

There are a lot of places to seek out your daily fantasy football value picks, so for those that stop by to see who we’re feeling each week, we thank you and hope you continue to do so.

In turn, we hope our NFL DFS picks win you some cash. That’s the mission this week, as you can find a ton of solid value at both DraftKings and FanDuel – especially if you want to pay up for studs like Drew Brees, David Johnson, Antonio Brown and the like.

We like those three guys as much as anyone, but if you want one or more of them (or other high-priced guys), you need to find some spots to save some cash.

Let’s see where the best spots to save are over at DraftKings for week 13:

Quarterback

  • Russell Wilson – Seahawks ($6.3k)
  • Carson Palmer – Cardinals ($6k)
  • Alex Smith – Chiefs ($5.4k)

Quarterback feels like a great place to pay up in daily fantasy football contests in week 13, but if you want to save, you certainly can.

Russell Wilson is a great passer to build a team around. He’ll be at home this week against the Panthers, who rank 25th against fantasy quarterbacks on the year. Wilson had a rough week 12, but he had turned in three straight games of 25+ fantasy points and averages two more fantasy points per game at home.

Wilson looks like a great play, but Palmer is also at home (averages the same amount of fantasy points there) and gets a Redskins pass defense ranking just 29th against quarterbacks over the last four weeks.

Palmer has regressed on the year, but he’s still managed to produce 15+ fantasy points in each of his last four contests. In a plus matchup and Arizona’s season on the brink, he could be in for a solid day.

Let’s not forget about Alex Smith, however, as he draws a very favorable matchup in Atlanta against a Falcons pass defense that ranks dead last on the year against fantasy passers.

Smith usually doesn’t put up elite numbers, but this is a huge game for the Chiefs and he’s displayed upside this season (32 fantasy points in week one). He tends to struggle on the road (just 11 fantasy points per game), but this might be the best spot to try him for the rest of the year.

Running Back

  • Carlos Hyde – 49ers ($5.2k)
  • Todd Gurley – Rams ($5k)
  • Tim Hightower – Saints ($4.8k)
  • Darren Sproles – Eagles ($4.4k)
  • Dion Lewis – Patriots ($3.8k)

Running back is a good place to save some cash at one or two spots this week, and then figure out which elite option you want to pay up for.

Hyde isn’t a bad start, as he gets touches no matter what the game flow is. He was banged up for a while this year with a bad shoulder, but he’s otherwise been super reliable, averaging a stellar 15 fantasy points per game on the year.

The Bears aren’t a great matchup by the numbers for Hyde, but this is a guy who hung 14 fantasy points on the Patriots, 20 on the Dolphins, 23 on the Cardinals and had his best day of the year (28 fantasy points) against a beastly Seattle front seven.

If you’re not feeling Hyde, perhaps consider Gurley, who is the cheapest he’s been all year. Facing the Pats can be tough and he hasn’t been as explosive as we’d like, but he’s an elite talent who gets loads of touches. Even in two straight so-so contests, he’s still produced 12 an 13 fantasy points.

Hightower looks like a bargain either way this week, as he’s at home against a bad Lions defense. He could be an even better NFL DFS value play of Mark Ingram is held out or limited due to an injury, however.

Speaking of injury, Darren Sproles could benefit greatly from Ryan Mathews being ruled out this week. He’s not getting many carries, but he dominates the running back receptions in Philly and could be active on the road against the Bengals.

Dion Lewis might be the best running back value play of all, as he’s seen his role grow the past two weeks. With the Rob Gronkowski injury news, he might be gearing up for an even bigger role than usual this week, as well.

Wide Receiver

  • Sammy Watkins – Bills ($5.5k)
  • Willie Snead – Saints ($5.1k)
  • Mike Wallace – Ravens ($5k)
  • Tyler Boyd – Bengals ($4.8k)
  • Tyreek Hill – Chiefs ($4.6k)
  • Marvin Jones Jr. – Lions ($4.4k)

Wide receiver has all of the elites ready and roaring this week, but it also happens to be a position where a lot of value can be had. I’m not sure I trust Sammy Watkins (foot) just yet, but he’s a good place to start, as he’s a great price for his talent and faces an Oakland secondary that ranks 24th against wide receivers in 2016.

Snead is the better play, as he’s at home against a bad Lions defense. The Saints thrive at home in general, while Snead specifically averages over 18 fantasy points per game at home.

Mike Wallace brings the revenge narrative back to life this week, as he’ll be taking on the Dolphins at home. Wallace torched the Steelers in a revenge game earlier this year and Miami has only been a middling unit against the pass. A big play that plays a huge role in the game wouldn’t be shocking.

More value can be had with Tyler Boyd, who has seen a lot of targets the past two weeks thanks to A.J. Green going down. Green is still out, so Boyd is a viable value play at home against the Eagles. I’d prefer him to be cheaper, but he has upside and value this week.

Hill is probably the better play, as he’s a little cheaper and gets a weak Falcons pass defense in week 13. Hill went nuts last week (32 fantasy points) and he’s really been fantastic with Jeremy Maclin banged up. Even if Maclin returns, Hill still looks like a chalky value play.

Marvin Jones Jr. could fit that label, too, as he gets an awful Saints defense that awards wide receivers over 23 fantasy points per contest on the year. He’s been banged up and fairly quiet, so this might be a great spot for him to go nuts in.

Tight End

  • Martellus Bennett – Patriots ($4.8k)
  • Travis Kelce – Chiefs ($4.7k)
  • Coby Fleener – Saints ($3.5k)
  • Vernon Davis – Redskins ($3.3k)

Tight end feels like a great place to pay down this week, as both Rob Gronkowski and Jordan Reed are out with injuries and Greg Olsen has been pretty quiet for the past few weeks.

Bennett is also banged up and a little pricier than we’d like, but with Gronk out, he has the role, talent and upside to chase this week.

Kelce has been better lately, as he’s dropped back to back 20+ fantasy point gems. He just might be able to continue that torrid pace in Atlanta, where the Falcons rank 28th against tight ends.

Fleener has been mediocre for most of the year, but he’s a nice drop down in price and gets a shaky Lions defense at home. Not only are the Lions dead last against fantasy tight ends on the year, but Fleener has enjoyed most of his success at home (12 fantasy points per game).

Vernon Davis has a tough date with an Arizona defense that stifles tight ends, but his role could be huge with Jordan Reed out. He’s a risk, but he’s a great price and he and Kirk Cousins have exhibited strong chemistry on the year.

Team Defense

  • Green Bay Packers ($2.9k)
  • San Francisco 49ers ($2.8k)
  • Jacksonville Jaguars ($2.6k)

Saving cash on your team defense at DraftKings makes sense, too. Defenses are so volatile and rarely can be completely trusted, so if there is some solid value that makes any kind of sense, it can pay to go for it.

The Packers are one defense under $3k that could fit that billing, as they weren’t bad at all last week and now they’ll be at home against Brock Osweiler and the Texans. Osweiler has been horrendous and Houston seems to be caving at the worst possible time. Green Bay could easily face plant, too, but it’s a solid gamble worth considering.

For $100 less we could also consider the Niners, who have been awful for the most part, but get Matt Barkley in Chicago. Barkley did shred the Titans last week, but the bet here is that a mediocre talent like Barkley can’t do that two games in a row.

The Jaguars feel like a much safer play, as they’ll be at home against a quarterback in Paxton Lynch that will be making just his second career start. The Jags are just 2-9 and haven’t been elite defensively, but they have talent, are at home and the matchup could work in their favor.

That does it for our week 13 daily fantasy football value picks. Be sure to be on the lookout for our weekly optimal lineup. Regardless of which path you take, we wish you luck in your NFL DFS contests!
