Ulrik Bengtsson Named Bettson AB CEO and President
Ulrik Bengtsson is officially the new face of Bettson AB. Per reports, the Swedish online gaming operator has named Bengtsson their new CEO and President, effective March 1st.
Bengtsson is set to fill the shoes of Pontus Lindwall, who will step back into his previous role of chairman of the board. Bengtsson’s broad experience in digital consumer services and knowledge learned on the job as CEO at Betsson Malta makes him a strong candidate to take over and guide Bettson AB into a strong 2016 and beyond.
Current CEO Pontus Lindwall spoke highly of Bengtsson:
“It will be great to have Ulrik as CEO of the parent company as well, as he knows the entire operations of the Bettson group. Ulrik has played an important role in the development and the execution of the strategies which have resulted in significant value growth for the group.”
Bettson AB is not hiring an outsider, as Bengtsson knows the company from top to bottom and has a versatile skill-set that can be appropriately applied to his new location. That being said, he is expected to also continue to serve as CEO of BML Group in Malta.
Bengtsson’s strong consumer services are the tipping point of his long-term goals atop the company, as he alluded to in recent comments:
“In my role as CEO and president of Bettson, I will continue to ensure that in the first instance the group focuses on customers, and that innovation takes place where it is important for them. In this way Bettson will continue to gain market share. Our strategy to grow both organically and through acquisitions remains.”
Bengtsson’s transition comes at a perfect time, as Bettson AB continues to see revenue and earnings rise despite exchange rate impacts. Despite the hit, Bettson AB still saw an 18% increase in overall revenue, while active users also increased by 45%.
Bengtsson shared his vision along with recent positive reports:
“Organic growth continues to be strong. This is the eighth consecutive quarter where growth in constant currency has exceeded market growth in our core markets. Betsson’s consumer brands are doing particularly well…The “old” Betsson has now been fully migrated to the shared technical platform, which further strengthens the possibilities for good growth.”
Needless to say, with Bettson AB already profitable and trending in the right direction, the successful transition with Bengtsson leading the way should provide a healthy future in 2016 and beyond.
