WSOP.com Interstate Network Account Pre-Registrations Open for Nevada, Delaware
WSOP.com opened pre-registrations to players in Nevada and Delaware for its anticipated interstate online poker network with New Jersey. The new WSOP.com software, developed by 888, is in the process of being approved by the gaming regulators of all three states. Approval is assumed at this point and the three states are expected to merge their player pools on the network on May 1st.
“We can’t wait for our existing players and hopefully a host of first-time players to experience the new WSOP.com,” said WSOP.com’s Head of Online Poker Bill Rini in a news release. “With the advent of tri-state shared liquidity, we have completely revamped our tournament schedules, our cash games offerings, our loyalty program and our promotional calendar to deliver the best online poker experience in this new world order.”
Players in New Jersey will not need to create new accounts and therefore do not have to pre-register, but those in Nevada and Delaware will, even though Nevadans already play on WSOP.com. Actually, anyone can pre-register for a new WSOP.com account, but only those within the borders of the three states will be able to play. New Jersey players will be able to play in the online bracelet events of the WSOP for the first time with this new network.
Atlantic City’s Ocean Resort Casino to Open in Late June
A couple weeks ago, Hard Rock International announced that the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City will open on June 28th. Well, get ready for a busy weekend, as Ocean Resort Casino has also reportedly set its target grand opening date for the same day.
The date was discovered by The Press of Atlantic City, which acquired signed employment agreements from multiple people, each of which showed a work start date of June 11th and an “anticipated” opening date of June 28th.
Ocean Resort Casino Frank Leone would only tell the newspaper, “The Ocean Resort Casino Team is committed to opening this summer and looks forward to announcing its highly anticipated opening date soon.”
The casino is the former Revel, which opened in April 2012 at the cost of $2.4 billion and closed September 2014.
WPT Season XVI Premieres on Fox Sports Tonight
For the first time since the World Poker Tour debuted on television 16 years ago, Mike Sexton will not be behind the broadcasters desk tonight, the first episode of the new season on Fox Sports. Vince Van Patten is still there and will be joined by Tony Dunst, who was the host of “The Raw Deal” segments in previous seasons. Eleventy billion-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth will be the new host of “The Raw Deal,” while Lynn Gilmartin will be in her fifth year as anchor.
Tonight will begin with WPT Choctaw, Part 1; each tour stop tends to consist of two parts.
“As the World Poker Tour celebrates an incredible 16th season as the premier name in internationally televised gaming and entertainment, it is my honor to join the WPT commentary booth full time starting with WPT Choctaw,” said Tony Dunst in a press release. “Alongside Vince Van Patten, Lynn Gilmartin, and Phil Hellmuth, and backed by the entire WPT family, I look forward to carrying on the WPT’s tremendous legacy as we crown new WPT champions and poker-made millionaires worldwide.”
World Poker Tour CEO Adam Pliska added:
The WPT is the number one regularly scheduled program on FOX Sports Regional Networks and one of the longest-running shows of all time. In Season XVI, we welcome Tony Dunst to the commentary booth, award our one-billionth prize dollar, return a televised event to Europe for the first time since Season XII, and introduce Phil Hellmuth as the WPT’s new Raw Deal host. All of this and more makes the television debut of Season XVI of the World Poker Tour a truly can’t-miss event.
