The UFC’s middleweight division is loaded with extremely talented fighters. Recently, one of the division’s former champions announced he plans to make a comeback. Today, we’ll talk about the rumors of Luke Rockhold fighting again in the UFC.

Rockhold is still a huge name in the MMA world. He has a tendency to put on exciting fights and will be a solid addition to the UFC’s middleweight rankings.

Here’s what you need to know about his possible return to the sport!

Israel Adesanya’s Next Title Defense is Now Set

The UFC is now home to several truly dominant champions. There is no doubt that Israel Adesanya is among the best in the sport. He won the unified middleweight title in October of 2019 against Rob Whittaker.

He has since gone on to defend the title on two different occasions. He scored a unanimous decision over Yoel Romero before earning a TKO stoppage of Paulo Costa. Those wins proved he is one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Most recently, Adesanya moved up in weight to challenge for Jan Blachowicz’s light-heavyweight title. Heading into this fight, most online sports betting sites listed Israel as the massive favorite. Many felt he would score a knockout win over Jan and challenge Jon Jones in the future.

This was not the case. Jan used his size and ended up pressuring Israel to earn a unanimous decision victory over the middleweight champion. It was a massively impressive performance for the Polish striker. Adesanya then revealed that he will be moving back down the middleweight division.

Reports have confirmed that Marvin Vettori will be the next man to challenge for Adesanya’s title. These men will be competing in the main event of UFC 263 in Glendale, Arizona. Fans are expecting a war between these two men.

There is a lot happening at 185 pounds in the UFC. It appears we could see Luke Rockhold making his return to the cage later this year!

Here’s What We Know About Luke Rockhold Fighting Again

Back in December of 2015, Luke Rockhold established himself as the best middleweight fighter on the planet. That month, he scored an incredible fourth-round TKO over Chris Weidman to earn the title. Some felt he would become the next true dominant champion in the sport.

In just his first title defense, Rockhold was knocked out by Michael Bisping in one of the biggest upsets in MMA history. He only competed three more times in his career and announced his retirement from the sport after a KO loss to Yoel Romero in 2018.

Recently, rumors began to surface that Luke is planning to make a return to the Octagon. He’s been complaining that the top contenders in the division are not willing to compete against him. You can check out his comments below.

“It’s really about fighting someone’s who’s going to fight,” Luke said. “I need to fight a top 10 guy who’s ready to sack up and ready to fight. There’s already multiple people in the top 10 making excuses why they don’t want to fight me. Who the f***k are you to turn down a fight? Where’s your entitlement and what you think you have? I’m just here to prove to myself. I just know that I have a lot left to give. I know that I haven’t performed to my potential. There’s certain weights and things that have been on my shoulders. So I know if I can go out there, and I can be present and give it my all, then I can go out there and do things that no one has ever seen from me yet, and I can go out there and beat everybody in my path.”

There are a huge number of exciting contenders that Rockhold could face off against. It seems likely that he will be thrown to the top of the division in his return. A fight against Kevin Holland would be a fun one for fans.

It now seems likely that we will see Luke fighting again sometime in the near future. Stay tuned for updates on his next opponent over the next few weeks!

Important Middleweight Fights Taking Place This Summer

There has never been a more exciting time in the middleweight division than right now. Israel Adesanya has proven to be an extremely difficult man to defeat. There are several contenders pushing for the chance to take him on, though.

Marvin Vettori has been named the next number-one contender in the division. He’s gone 5-0 since 2019 and most recently earned a hard-fought victory over Kevin Holland. He should present a tough test for the champion in June.

Darren Till and Derek Brunson have just been booked to compete on August 14. Both men are near the top of the middleweight rankings. It’s reasonable to assume the winner would be very close to a shot at the title.
