Will Joe Joyce’s Next Opponent Be a Heavyweight Superstar?

This Saturday, rising UK-based star Joe Joyce will put his undefeated record on the line against one of the true veterans of the heavyweight boxing game, Carlos Takam. A growing number of fans now believe that Joyce will get the job done and move into a major title fight. Does that mean Joe Joyce’s next opponent will be one of the top stars at heavyweight?

That is certainly what Joe is pushing for. Nothing is predictable in the sport of boxing, however, and it’s still anyone’s guess how the title picture in the heavyweight division will play out over the next few months. Now is a great time to talk about some of the possible scenarios.

Let’s get into it!

What Exactly is Happening With Fury vs. Wilder 3?

Boxing’s heavyweight division has produced some of the most epic rivalries in all of sports history. Ali vs. Frasier and Tyson vs. Holyfield immediately come to mind. Nowadays, it seems as if the rivalry between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder is the most heated in the sport of boxing right now.

These two men have competed twice in the ring. Both were wild affairs. Their first bout was a back-and-forth clash that pitted Fury’s technical skills against Wilder’s inhuman power. In the end, it was declared a draw.

Their second bout played out considerably differently. Tyson Fury pushed the pace from the opening bell, landing massive shots on Wilder throughout their bout. In the seventh round, Wilder’s corner had seen enough damage and threw in the towel.

Many expected a third fight to immediately come next. Things have been delayed, however, and for a time it seemed that these men would never face off in the ring again. A judge ended up ordering this bout for Tyson Fury and it was originally expected to take place this August in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Fury ended up coming down with Covid-19 and the bout was pushed back once again. It now seems these two fighters will settle their beer in the boxing ring on October 9. This trilogy will likely end up being one of the biggest fights in heavyweight boxing history.

Fury and Wilder are far from the only big-name fighters competing in the heavyweight division right now. One such name is set to compete on Saturday! Here’s what you need to know about this upcoming bout.

Fans Call for Joe Joyce’s Next Opponent to be a Champion

The sport of boxing is unlike almost any other. There are the “champions” that hold obscure titles across various weight divisions. There are also fighters who fans consider to be true champions. Oftentimes, a fighter’s ability to generate public interest determines their worth.

Joe Joyce is still a young up-and-comer in the heavyweight division. He seems determined to compete against one of the aforementioned “true champions” in the near future, though. First, he will need to get past the always-tough Carlos Takam. An in-depth betting breakdown of this fight can be seen here.

Joyce vs. Takam is an important bout for the division. Joyce has been confirmed to be the next challenger for the WBO title with a win tomorrow. That is, of course, after Oleksandr Usyk gets his opportunity against current WBO champion Anthony Joshua on September 25. Joyce spoke about this situation to Sky Sports this week and claims he wants to fight for the undisputed belt at some point in the near future.

“I’ve got a big test in Takam so I won’t look too far ahead because this is a tough fight,” Joe said. “I need to beat Takam up to make a statement so I can go on to win a world title. Takam gives it his all and he’s a hard fight. It might take a few rounds, it might take all the rounds, but I will get the job done then cruise on to a world title”

If the stars align, Joe Joyce’s next opponent will end up being either Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. That may not be the most-likely scenario, though. Joshua and Fury both have massive fights lined up and are expected to face one another in 2022.

Joe will need to wait and see how this situation plays out. It seems likely that some kind of rematch clause will be involved with any fight between Fury and Joshua. That means fans will likely see Joyce competing against someone else, in the meantime. Stay tuned for updates over the next few months!

Here’s a Look at the Biggest Boxing Fights Left to Bet on in July!

Boxing fans have been treated to some incredible fights over the past few months. Some of the top stars in the sport have put it all on the line through the first half of 2021. More will do so as the year goes on.

There are still some highly intriguing bouts taking place in July that members of BetOnline can bet on right now! That, of course, includes the aforementioned fight between Joe Joyce and Carlos Takam. There is some real heat between these men and the winner could earn a major title opportunity.

Joyce (-1250) is expected to have a showcase performance against Takam (+700) in this bout. Carlos has a tendency to make good fighters look bad, though. This fight may end up being more competitive than some fans expect.

The July 31 bout between Anthony Fowler (-2000) and Roberto Garcia (+1000) is also generating fan interest. Fowler is a major UK boxing star looking to climb up the ranking at middleweight. He is expected by most to get the win over Garcia in this matchup.

It is shaping up to be an epic summer for fans of boxing around the world. Unfortunately, fans will need to wait a little longer to see some of the massive heavyweight clashes take place. We’ll be sure to offer updates on these upcoming bouts as they draw closer.
