Fury vs. Hammer Pick – Fury

The Fury’s attempted takeover of boxing is far from over! This Saturday, Hughie Fury will look to earn one of the biggest wins of his career against the always-tough, Christian Hammer. Now is a great time for me to offer an in-depth Fury vs. Hammer betting pick with a close analysis of how these men stack up against one another.

Many are expecting a knockout in this fight. Fury and Hammer are known for their willingness to engage in firefights. Before breaking down their styles, I will quickly break down the odds for each man to win.

Let’s get into it!

Fury vs. Hammer Odds

The following odds are courtesy of BetOnline:

Moneyline Odds Over/Under
Hughie Fury -2500 N/A
Christian Hammer +1200 N/A

Boxing’s heavyweight division is better now than ever before. Hughie Fury is still just 27 years old and there is real hope he can reach the highest levels of the division. He’ll first need to earn a win over Christian Hammer this weekend.

It’s no surprise to see Fury come into this fight as the -2500 favorite. He has a better record, is younger, and seems to be improving quickly. Hammer is coming off a loss and needs a victory here to remain relevant in the sport. He currently holds odds of just +1200 to do so.

There is no doubt that Fury is the safer wager here. He is coming into this bout with most of the advantages. Hammer is very experienced, though, and an upset is not completely out of the question here. That could earn bettors some real cash.

Fans are still working hard to form their own Fury vs. Hammer betting pick. There are many different ways to do so. I recommend first looking at how two fighters stack up on a physical level. Below is a look at some of the most important statistics leading into fight night.

Fury vs. Hammer Preview

Many analysts agree that boxing’s heavyweight division is better now than it has been in decades. A huge number of fighters are working hard to climb the rankings in this division. That includes Hughie Fury and Christian Hammer.

Here’s a look at some of the most important numbers these two men are bringing with them into the ring.

Hughie Fury Christian Hammer
Age 27 34
Height 6’6″ 6’2″
Reach 80″ 78″
Total Fights 28 33
Record 25-3 26-7
Knockouts 14 16

As many are pointing out, Hughie Fury comes into this fight with nearly all of the advantages. He is younger, taller, and has a longer reach. Christian Hammer is the more experienced boxer, though, and may look to utilize that experience on fight night.

Some are writing Christian Hammer off due to these statistics. That may be a mistake. He is still only 34 years old. That is certainly higher than some of the top fighters in the heavyweight division right now. He is not completely past his prime and is more than capable of earning a stoppage win in this bout.

It’s interesting to compare the records of these men. Hammer began fighting as a professional five years before Fury did. Despite that fact, Christian only has five more bouts to his name than Fury.

Christian Hammer has certainly been fighting at a high level for longer than his opponent here. In fact, his first major title fight came back in 2015, just two years after Hughie Fury began his professional fighting career.

None of these statistics are enough to sway my Fury vs. Hammer betting pick. If anything, they made this fight even more difficult to predict. Below is how I see each of these fighters approaching their clash this weekend.

Hughie’s Goal

Hughie Fury entered the professional boxing game with some serious hype behind him. For the most part, he’s lived up to that hype. Fury has been involved in several high-profile bouts throughout his career. Unfortunately, he tends to fall short against the truly elite fighters in the heavyweight division.

Most recently, Fury scored a decision win over Mariusz Wach. This was arguably the biggest win of his career. He showed some major improvements in that fight, utilizing his reach and movement to frustrate his opponent. To make the performance even more impressive, he was forced to fight while dealing with a horrific cut above his left eye.

I expect Fury to utilize that same type of movement against Christian Hammer. Going blow-for-blow against the Romanian slugger may not be the wisest decision. If he can land his jab consistently while evading Hammer’s shots, this is a fight he can win via decision fairly easily. This is a fact that many fans must consider when forming their Fury vs. Hammer betting pick.

Christian’s Goal

Christian Hammer was once near the heavyweight boxing rankings. Two losses in his past three bouts lowered his stock, yet he remains a big figure in the division. An impressive win over Hughie Fury will almost guarantee him a big fight in 2022.

This won’t be an easy fight for Hammer, yet his best opportunity to win is by forcing Fury into an ugly fight. He cannot let Hughie stay at range and land his hard jabs and crosses. Hammer should look to clinch as often as possible while landing hard hooks to the body and head from in close.

Power is often the last thing to go for fighters. Both of Christian Hammer’s latest wins have come via stoppage and he can certainly add another this weekend. He needs to push the pace from the beginning of the fight while looking for opportunities to put Fury down. That’s always easier said than done and most online sports betting sites list him as a major underdog to get the job done.

Final Fury vs. Hammer Betting Pick

It’s always fun to watch the world’s best heavyweights compete. I expect Saturday’s fighters to come in hungrier than ever after seeing the incredible war between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. It took some serious study consideration for me to come up with my own Fury vs. Hammer betting pick and I can still see both ways for this bout to play out.

The odds are swinging heavily in favor of one man. In the end, I agreed with the oddsmakers and feel that one of Saturday’s competitors has a much higher likelihood of coming out victorious.

Check out my official prediction below!

Hughie Fury wins via unanimous decision

Hughie Fury is a tremendous fighter. Does he have the skills to become champion of the world? At least for now, no. He seems to be getting better, though, and has a real opportunity to prove he is among the elite in the division with a dominant decision win over Christian Hammer here.

I expect to see Fury staying on the outside as often as he can. He is the taller man and will look to use his reach advantage with hard jabs and movement. Hammer will likely try to make this fight ugly, yet that will only work for so long.

I don’t see Fury earning a knockout win here. Instead, he will win the majority of the rounds on Saturday to win a clear decision win. This victory could help to set him up for a legitimate title contender in 2022. All of those factors are what contributed to my final Fury vs. Hammer betting pick.

Boxing fans should be in for a good one this weekend. Hughie Fury is looking to prove that he is the next big thing at heavyweight. Christian Hammer wants to show that he can bounce back from adversity against a hungry young prospect.
