G2 vs. Faze Predictions
G2 and Faze go a long way! These two teams have been at the top of the European stage for quite some time. Even though they’ve rarely been at the very top, they always posed as top ten threats and are never to be taken for granted.
In terms of head to head encounters, Faze is only slightly better. With a total of nine matches, Faze won five, G2 won four, with one match going to overtime. Their last encounter was less than a month ago. The Frenchmen took the win, but it was all HuNter and nexa, and no one else. They were the toughest players on the server, accumulating a total of 125 kills combined, across all three maps.
Despite the fact G2 won the last head to head match, Faze finished the event with a much better overall result. G2 was eliminated in the first group stage while Faze Clan survived till the second one. However, Faze did disappoint in the second group stage, managing to snatch only one win… and that was against OG in the last round which meant nothing for NiKo and the boys.
Objectively, G2’s last few matches were a ton better than that of Faze Clan. Besides yesterday’s win against GODSENT, G2 also defeated Virtus.pro, Faze, and TYLOO. They did lose against Mousesports and OG, which is what cost them the place in the second phase of ESL Pro League.
Individually, separating these two sides is pretty difficult. On one end we have NiKo and coldzera, both class-A fraggers with plenty of experience. On the other end we have in-form nexa and huNter coupled with KennyS who’s (once again) showing glimpses of his old brilliance.
Wrapping Everything Up
The last thing we need to discuss before closing out our G2 vs. Faze predictions are the map pools of both sides. Faze Clan is better on Mirage and Overpass, and that’s about it. G2 is better on Vertigo, Train and Inferno. Everything else, and by that I mean Nuke and Dust II, is separated by nuances and there’s no point in seeking the superior side.
With that said, I honestly can’t see Faze winning this. They aren’t in the greatest of form, despite winning the opening ESL One: Road to Rio match against North.
On top of that, their roster isn’t really better than G2’s… and their map pool seems to be slightly inferior too. Everything points in G2’s direction which is why I’ll probably go with them.
Feel free to invest some money into the simplest of all bets – match-winner on G2. If you’re looking for more risk, G2 to win 2-1 at +240 ought to be a treat. If you don’t like either of those bets; if you’re not confident in G2 taking this one home, you can always go with the good old map totals. Considering the map pools of both teams, I reckon this one will go to the third map. Hence, a small to medium stake on total maps over 2.5 at -105 should be fine too…
