Week 15’s Sunday Night Football game is a must win scenario for the Philadelphia Eagles as they’re fighting to make the playoffs. The defending Super Bowl champs have struggled all season long and are on the brink of being eliminated from playoff contention.
The Los Angeles Rams have locked up the NFC West divisional crown, but are battling with the Saints for the NFC’s top spot. Can the Eagles fly high in LA or will the Rams run wild over Philly? Kickoff inside Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum is at 8:20 PM ET.

Philadelphia vs Los Angeles NFC Game Preview
The Eagles and the Rams have played against each other 41 times including 3 postseason meetings. Philly leads this head-to-head series with a 21-19-1 record. The Eagles have won 5 straight games over the Rams including last year when they defeat LA in southern California. The Rams haven’t defeated the Eagles since 2004.
Philadelphia (6-7) has lost three of their last 5 games and are currently on the outside looking in at the playoffs. The Eagles suffered an OT loss to the Cowboys this past weekend and desperately need to win on Sunday night in order to keep their postseason hopes alive. Can Philly pull off the huge upset?
Los Angeles (11-2) is coming off a loss this past Sunday where their offense played horribly on the road at Chicago. The Rams are looking to bounce back this weekend at home where they are 6-0 on the season.
LA had a reality check against the Bears and learned that they will have to play their best football from here on out, if they want to go deep into the playoffs.
The spread opened with the Rams favored anywhere from 8.5 to 10.5 points depending on which NFL betting site you shop at. Currently, the spread sits at 9 points in favor of Los Angeles. The Over/Under opened between 52 and 54.5 total points depending on which online sportsbook you looked at. Currently, the O/U sits at 53.5 total points.
Free NFL Sports Bet and NFC Game Prediction: Over 53.5 Points
I believe the Rams are going to win this game easily. They’re back at home where the offense is explosive. In 6 home games, the Rams have averaged 37.6 ppg. Their lowest score was 20 points against the Packers. Rams QB Jared Goff has been remarkable at home on the season as he’s thrown for 2,199 yards, 18 TDs, 2 INTs, 1 rushing TD, and a QB Rating of 124.5.
Philly is giving up 295.6 passing ypg and 402.2 total ypg on the year. They’ve lost some key members in their secondary, which bodes well for the Rams on Sunday night.
Furthermore, Todd Gurley has also played well at home with 519 rushing yards, 5 rushing TDs, 315 receiving yards and 2 rushing TDs. I expect the offense to flow through Gurley with the running back catching passes out of the backfield as well.
The Eagles are also struggling offensively as the team is just averaging 21.6 ppg, 370.2 total ypg and don’t really have a rushing attack ever since Ajayi went down.
To make things even more difficult for Philly is that the Rams have played better football on the defensive side of things since cornerback Aquib Talib has returned to the team following a lengthy injury.
In the two games he’s been back, the defense has only allowed 15.5 ppg, which is significantly lower than the 24.1 ppg they’ve given up on the year.
If that weren’t enough to make Philly fans cringe, there are reports coming out during the week that starting QB Carson Wentz could miss the game this Sunday due to back issues. He’s currently sitting out of practice as of Wednesday. Backup QB Nick Foles is preparing for playing against Los Angeles if Wentz can’t play.
If Wentz doesn’t play then I expect this spread to easily surpass 11 or 12 points in favor of the Rams. So, if you can get it as low as 9 points then do it. However, many NFL betting sites are removing the spread until Wentz’s status is official.
I would avoid the moneylines as well. The Rams are going to win, but a -420 moneyline has no value.
The best bet is the Over in this game. As mentioned above, the Rams average 37.6 ppg at home. With a poor Eagles secondary, I expect the Rams to cross the 40 point threshold in this game. Philly gave up 48 points to the Saints 4 games ago, and I can see that happening this weekend.
The Eagles will be desperate, so I can see them crossing the 20 point mark in this game, but not enough to make this game a close one. The Over is 7-2 in Philly’s last 9 road games, 8-0 during the last eight Week 15 games, 5-1 in their last 6 road games against teams with winning home records, and 13-5 in their last 18 games during the month of December.
For the Rams, the Over is 4-1 in their last 5 home games, 6-2 in their last 8 games during December, 12-5 in their last 17 games following an ATS loss and 7-3 following a SU loss.
I’m taking the Rams to win this game in a blowout, easily carrying the load to cover the Over in this Sunday Night Football game.
