Raptors vs Cavaliers – NBA Pick for May 7th

Unless King James gets injured in the 1st quarter of Game 4, I don’t see Toronto winning this game. Toronto took their best shot in Game 3 and ended up losing on a buzzer beater by LeBron. After going down 0-2, and losing both games at home, Toronto came out in Game 3 and gave their best shot. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and now they’re on the brink of elimination as they try to defeat King James on his home court.

For the Cavs, they are looking to sweep the Raptors for the second straight postseason. Of the 129 teams to fall behind 3-0 in a series, none of them have come back to win. Toronto will become the 130th team all-time to fail at this monumental feat.

The Cavs seem to have an answer for anything and everything that Toronto throws at them. Typically, the answer has been LeBron James. However, King James will be the first to tell you that he’s had some help along the way. To the surprise of many, we’ve had a Kevin Love sighting these last two games and it’s definitely given the Cavs a much needed boost.

In Game 1 of the series, Love scored only 7 points. In Games 2 and 3, he’s averaged 26 ppg and 13.5 rpg. Additionally, he’s shot over 51% from the floor. Kyle Korver has chipped in 14 ppg and Jeff Green has come off the bench to score 13.6 ppg. When LeBron’s supporting cast can consistently score, the Cavs become much harder to beat. Toronto might have been the #1 ranked team in the Eastern Conference, but it’s clear who the #1 team really is.

I believe that Cleveland will give everything they have to close out the series and not let it go back to Toronto. LeBron has been very effective in elimination games as he’s gone 12-1 in his last 13 opportunities. I believe he’ll make that 13-1 tonight. For the series, James is averaging 35.6 ppg, 8.3 rpg, and 11.3 apg. Toronto has no answer for LeBron and that was clear on the final play of Game 3. Raptors coach Dwane Casey tried to trap James on the last play, but LeBron flew past the defenders and banked in the game winner as time expired.

Whether it comes down to a last second shot again or not, James will lead these Cavs to victory and eliminate the Raptors for the 3rd straight postseason.

Toronto’s all-star guard DeMar Derozan had a humbling experience in Game 3 as he wasn benched in the 4th quarter due to ineffective play. In other words, he was 3-of-12 from the floor with only 8 points to show for it. He also had 3 fouls and 3 turnovers. I expect DeRozan to play better in Game 4, but it won’t be enough. For the series, DeRozan is averaging 18 ppg, which is down from his 23 ppg season average. His running mate Kyle Lowery put up 27 points in the Game 3 loss as he tried to lead the Raptors to victory. For the series, Lowry is averaging 22 ppg and 8.3 apg.

Cleveland is 4-1 at home in the playoffs and 33-13 at home on the year. The Cavs are 6-1 SU over the last 7 games, 5-0 SU against Toronto in their last 5 head-to-head meetings, 5-0 SU against Toronto in their last 5 home games, 9-1 SU against the Raptors in their last 10 meetings, and 18-3 SU following consecutive win streaks of 3 or more. The Raptors are 2-5 SU in their last 7 games, 1-4 SU in their last 5 road games, and 7-9 SU in their last 16 games as an underdog,

No need to get cute or greedy, take LeBron and the moneyline for the winning bet.

Bet: Cleveland Cavaliers -200
