On Sunday, September 26th, Joey Logano and the rest of the Cup Series will head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400.
This is the 4th race of the 2021 Playoffs and the first of the Round of 12. Logano currently sits 9th in the standings after a decent first round.
The #22 car broke out of a slump that saw four finishes of 22nd or worse to close out the regular season. He put together an 8.0 average finish in the first three races of the postseason and now heads to a track where Joey has had success at in his career.
Can Logano be a contender in the South Point 400 this weekend?
Logano comes into this weekend’s race outside of the Top 5 betting favorites, but offering plenty of value for his race winning, Top 3 and Top 5 wagers.
Even his Top 10 wager with -180 odds on NASCAR betting sites still has some value considering how well he’s raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in his Cup Series career.
Logano’s Experience at Las Vegas
In 16 career starts at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Joey Logano has two wins, six Top 5s, 11 Top 10s, with an 8.4 average finish and zero DNFs.
Logano leads the field in average finish. He’s also tied for second in wins, tied for third in Top 5s, and tied for second in Top 10s at Vegas.
In his last 10 races at this track, Logano has finished in the Top 15 for all of them. He’s also tallied two wins, five Top 5s, and nine Top 10s over that span including leading laps in all 10 of those races.
Over the last five Vegas races, Logano has two wins, two Top 5s, and four Top 10s with an average finish of 6.8 over that span.
Lastly, in the three South Point 400 races, Logano has finished 4th, 9th and 14th. That’s a 9.0 average finish for the fall Vegas race. He was 9th in this year’s spring Vegas race.
Take Logano to Finish in the Top 10
On the season, Logano has a 12.9 average finish and 15 Top 10s in 29 races. In the Playoffs so far, Logano has an 8.0 average finish. And, at Las Vegas, Joey has an 8.4 average finish which is the best among the field.
In addition to those numbers, he has a 9.0 average finish in the South Point 400 and the 2nd most Top 10s at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
I like Logano’s odds and chances of finishing in the Top 10 this weekend. In fact, I believe he could even crack the Top 5 in the South Point 400 on Sunday.
